When I wrote the verses, I called them poems, but that's not quite true. I have decided that they are stories that rhyme. If you are a 'Baby Boomer' you will recognize yourself or somebody that you know. I divided the book into three parts with stories of Life, Love and Laughter. After all, what else is there?

I decided on the title, 'Fields of Grain' for a couple of reasons that I will share with you now. First, it's the title of one of my favorite stories in the book, and it sets the stage for the rest. I love this country and the people in it. It seemed fitting to open with a story that shows the American spirit that I remember and maybe give some insight to younger folks.
Many of the other stories talk about life in the 1960's, and the country and people that I've come to know and love. 'One Night At Dan's Tavern' is a romantic trip that just might bring a small tear, and 'The Inspiration' is a whimsical journey that more than a few writers experience.
The good news is that I've made sure there is something for everybody, and that it is easy to read. You won't need a Thesaurus or Dictionary. It's just good fun.
I dedicated the book to my Mom. I think she would be happy with it. So will you.
