The Adventures of Sailor Sam
The Adventures of Sailor Sam

Tigger the farm cat is forced to leave home after a misunderstanding. A ship's captain takes pity on him and he begins a new life on board as 'Sailor Sam.' The sailors do not understand that cats are mainly nocturnal and soon begin to grumble about his laziness. To prove them wrong, Sam decides to steer the ship at night to speed them to their destination. Alas, cats are not famed for their map reading skills and his actions have unexpected and humorous consequences. Where will the ship end up and will Sailor Sam be forgiven.

Excerpt

Poor Tigger had not even time to pack his few belongings. Where would he go? What would he do? "They'll never find another cat as handsome, hard-working and talented as me," he muttered to himself. He walked through the coastal town where he lived, down to the docks. The fishermen were always happy to share some of the smaller fish from their catch. He ate his fill and then sat on the pier, washing his whiskers and watching the fishermen and sailors go about their business.

Soon the men began to feel curious about the lonely cat who was watching them. "Here, Puss, Puss" some of them called. "What's the matter, Tiddles?" Tigger ignored them. Such names were not suitable for him. Then one of the sailors approached. "Hi, handsome Samson," he said. "Don't you have a home to go to tonight?" Tigger's ears pricked up and he smiled. Here was a name he could live with! "I'm not welcome there anymore," he replied sadly and he told the sailor the full story.
