A story of love, hate and domestic violence. It tells how a girl will stay around when her man puts it down no matter what he puts her through. It talks about the life of being "the man's" girl and the twisted things that people will do and go through for love.

Is real love worth my life?

Excerpt

It's been ten years since Mike and I met and I'll be damned if I let his six old baby mama's his two new baby mama's or a few ass whippings tear us apart. He owe's me; I've given up everything for him, the love of my life, my dream of having a family, not just a baby daddy, and basically my life. I've given him everything that he's asked for even a pretty little girl, even though it jeopardized my relationship with my friends and family. I learned how to live with his other woman and the smacks in the mouth when I asked him about them. The lies all became reality. The kids coming out of the woodwook became my kids. My friends distanced themselves from me because everytime we went out he would bust out my car windows or we would be fighting, but I still stayed with him when he slashed two of my tires and left me in the roughest projects in Akron in the middle of the night when I was four months pregnant. But through all of this, he was there for me in my time of need, he showed me love and gave me sexual healing. Although we weren't married, Mike was in it for the long run, until death do us part. He's going to repay me with his life for all the blood, all of the tears, every headache, heart break and all the love that I have given him and the ten years that I did nothing but catered to his ass, or is it worth it?

Tara Martin
Very creative, thought provoking story about what wouldn’t be done in the name of love. This story was very realistic and characters a little too believable. At times Kya’s experiences just brought it out of fiction into reality, making you ask yourself “Is Real Love Worth My Life?” A must read!

Jennifer Riley
This was an edge of your seat story of love, anger and control over a woman in love. I could really relate to these characters in this story. Kya must have really been in love with Mike, with all of the things that she went through. This is a must read book, especially for the young girls. -

Akron Beacon Journal
A local news broadcast used to begin with "Do you know where you childern are?" In Is Real Love Worth My Life?, a novel by Akron author D M Cummings, Kya Walters' mother hasn't been paying attention. She's given the graduating senion a car for making it through high school without getting pregnant, but she doesn't know that Kya and her boyfriend have been trying to conceive. She also doesn't know that Kya drinks and has a thriving drug business and that she accepts money from men, apparently giving nothing in return. If this sounds like a bad beginning for a young adult, you haven't heard the half of it. Kya's story, written in a cofessional style spirals nowhere but down. Though her boyfriend seems a decent sort, she takes up Mike, a drug dealer with eight children by different mothers. About everything that can be expected to Kya does, leaving the reader frustrated with the decisions this bright woman makes.
