Our new instructional video includes lesson scenarios which should be used concurrently with the Teacher's Manual. Each scenario depicts the actual lesson topic and the verbal or physical self-defense technique used to solve or escape the problem at hand. Additionally, Janet walks you through each specific physical self-defense technique used in the basic program.
This program contains information to educate our children in conflict resolution and survival in today’s society. While all children have the right to defend themselves in any threatening situation, most lack the ability and the knowledge to do so effectively. As teachers who are properly trained to administer the skills and techniques necessary to teach this program effectively, this resource teaching manual is designed to give you the easiest possible approach. This is a well-planned self-defense program for children, which is sequential, developmental and age-appropriate. It focuses on the importance of all aspects of health (physical, mental and social), which leads to a comprehensive view of physical education. Emphasis is placed in developing a healthier body, mind and spirit, together with the child’s role in contributing to the health of society in general.
Self-defense is great for teaching large as well as smaller class sizes. There is less downtime, and all children are able to participate equally. This course allows for both group and individual participation by the students. Using a positive and open attitude is the key to teaching this program. The program provides each student with an opportunity to assess various situations, and to develop skills and understanding that will enable them to create safer environments. The instructor has the option to begin the program with an orientation class that explains the program content, or a brief general description of the program can be explained during lesson 1.
This manual contains all the information necessary to teach self-confidence through conflict resolution, verbal and physical self-defense approaches, and easy-to-follow formats which include warm-up exercises, individual and group activities, student assessments, and parent and teacher program evaluations. The step-by-step lesson plans guide the teacher through each lesson, and include discussion questions, student involvement, problem solving and role-playing. Each lesson will give the student a new outlook for being safe and defending themselves, by viewing, discussing, analyzing and practicing the various skills and techniques taught during each lesson.
