Dyslexic Toni Credella isn't on good terms with her Italian family because she shot and killed her abusive husband who happened to be a Baltimore cop. When she apprentices herself to a PI in hopes of supporting herself and the house she's rehabbing, she finds herself investigating the murder of a homeless woman in her neighborhood. The woman's body was found on the site where the remains of a young girl murdered twenty years earlier were unearthed. Toni believes there's a connection.
"Unidentified body found buried under a pile of bricks near Fells Point. Been there for years. According to forensics it used to be a young girl, white, early twenties"
I pushed my beer away. What had happened to this girl? It could be so many things--an angry boyfriend, a chance meeting with a crazy. Maybe she'd been a runaway who'd accepted a ride with Mr. Wrong. Now, she'd never tell her story.
