When The Angels Have Risen
It seems with each election year, the United States becomes more and more bitterly divided, particularly when religion is thrown into the debate. When The Angels Have Risen explores these timely issues through one man’s journey.
Jerry Fletcher is a down-on-his luck man from Los Angeles who, after unpleasant clashes with government suits and contemptuous authorities, has become decidedly bitter against the establishment. He relocates to Las Vegas to start a new life and, after a year of living in the City of Sin, he takes off on a hiking trip with some of his co-workers.
During the trip, he is mysteriously transported to an alien spaceship. On board, he meets an otherworldly being named Yoshu’ah, who confides that many of the Judeo-Christian teachings were actually provided by the alien angels.
In addition, Fletcher learns that an alien war has been waged for thousands of years for control of Earth. The aliens send him home to explain his new knowledge, turning this previously apathetic man into a man with a message!
What happens when Fletcher returns home and the government catches onto his plans? Read When the Angles Have Risen and follow Fletcher’s exciting, passionate, and dangerous journey to its surprising conclusion.
II Kings 2:11 As they kept on walking and talking, a fiery chariot with fiery horses suddenly appeared and separated one from the other: and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.
Still spinning within the illuminating whirlwind, I felt a sudden slow descent. The swarming warm, golden light began to evolve into a brilliant but intense blue light. During my descent, there was a perpetual numbing of my body and mind like a deep intoxicating slumber of the “Raven’s opiate.” So I began to fade away into what seemed like a deep, very deep sleep.
Out of what seemed like if not days then hours, I stretched and yawned, now awakened from an apparently long, deep sleep. My eyes slowly opened. Still feeling groggy and my equilibrium still not all there, I took in my immediate surroundings and then realized that I was standing on some kind of a crystal-like platform which was enclosed with enormous crystals of gold, blue, green, and purple which surrounded the platform.
Within moments, a large crystal retracted, allowing me now a full view of my immediate surroundings. It was so surreal that my perspective of reality became distorted.
Though my equilibrium and my mind became more balanced, my body was still tingling with a new sensation as the numbing slowly subsided. I felt as though my blood was beginning to flow throughout my body. A newfound awareness began to emerge. But my first thought was... Is this a dream? My surroundings and circumstances could be analyzed by thought, but my feelings reflected an unusual comfort with my immediate environment. Perhaps I was dreaming or I was having what some might call an out of body experience, but nonetheless, there was no immediate fear of my surroundings and I felt a sense of ease and security for whatever reason.
From the distance, a tall figure slowly neared. Though I noticed that I could freely leave the crystallized chamber, I waited with curiosity as the approaching figure's features came into my focus.
The figure seemed to be gliding, but when I looked down, I realized that this was just illusionary, for whatever reason. Perhaps it was just the surrealism of my dream. I suddenly looked up, and a tall platinum blonde angelic man with large piercing blue eyes now stood before me. His skin had an almost illuminating golden glow while his face was strikingly chiseled like that of a stone head of an Adonis Greek god, while towering to what seemed to be at least six-feet-ten.
At the moment, I thought at first that perhaps he was some kind of spiritual guide. Maybe during my present out of body experience, he was going to lead me through my journey in this spiritual realm.
The tall man suddenly, while holding both his palms up toward me with his fingers spreading open forming a two-finger “V” proclaimed, “Kadosh! Kadosh! Kadosh! Adonai svahot!”
A Different View of the Nonexistent Separation of Church and State.
Author Andrew Feder paints a vivid and humorous picture of a society that erupts into a civil war due to a "difference of religious opinion." Our main character, Jerry Fletcher, has moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to escape from a life that has spun out of control. Social issues and legal issues make him a rather bitter man who resents the government due to the legal persecution that he has faced. He and a few of his co-workers, who themselves comprise a rather diverse and spirited group; take off on a relaxing camping trip.
While exploring his surroundings, Jerry is "abducted" by an alien life-form and taken to an alien spaceship. The aliens have chosen him, for one reason or another, to become a prophet of sorts and have trusted him with important information about Christianity and that alien race's involvement with the planet's spiritual development.
Jerry returns to the planet's surface and has the duty of relaying what he has been taught. The ideas that he express go against the grain of the governments' beliefs and he then becomes a "threat." A revolution against the government has been spawned with Fletcher as a figurehead on one side versus President Halliburton and his administration on the other. It seems that a heated religious debate has become the cause of massive civil unrest and separation.
The names, places, events and people should seem familiar to you. History is filled with thinkers, prophets, messengers and philosophers who may see things differently for a variety of reasons, but the way they are treated is usually the same. They have to be silenced before a change occurs and offsets the top-heavy establishment that would prefer that things be left alone.
When the Angels Have Risen is a vivid and well-planned satire. I've read the work of other political satirists and the message, however muted by details and fictitious events, will cause a mental chain reaction. You will analyze and then ask yourself questions that you may not have even pondered beforehand. This, in my opinion, is what every book should strive to do - make you ask questions and analyze the answers.

Government and Religion - Good or Evil
Jerry Fletcher is a modern day cynic whose encounters with government agencies and the law have left him bitter and anti-establishment. He moves to Las Vegas in search of a new life but what he finds is mind- boggling. A routine hike in the canyon turns into an encounter of the strangest kind; Jerry is abducted by aliens. These are not little green men with antennas in their heads but intelligent, mystical beings that inform Jerry of the battle of Good versus Evil that has been going on for centuries on Earth. Our very curious yet skeptical hero learns how these beings have provided the original Judeo-Christian teachings as well as introducing the Hebrew and Egyptian languages amongst other astonishing things. He is instructed to return to earth and inform the millions.
Needless to say he returns to earth an altered man and unintentionally begins what can only be described as a modern day American/World Revolution. Anyone that has ever wondered whether the government's agenda and the religious orders of the world are on the side of good or evil or questioned the motives of big corporations will thoroughly enjoy this novel.
Feder's characters are realistic with all the human frailties and foibles imaginable. His theory of how the American people would react to a revolution of this magnitude is well thought out and logical. Readers will easily grasp the possibility of such a civil war. This book mixes humor, politics, science fiction, religion and a spattering of romance into a blend of excitement and intrigue that will keep the reader turning pages until the end.
The author has had many professions, all of which have contributed to this his first novel. This reviewer awaits his next work with anticipation. A highly recommended read for those that are looking for humor mixed with modern day `Michael Moore' style political fiction. Reviewer: Shirley Roe, Allbooks
Fight of Good against Evil
With When Angles Have Risen author Andrew Feder has created a very unusual way to depict the fight of good against evil but it works well.
Jerry Fletcher is going to Las Vegas to start his life totally over. He has had enough. He had helped his father with the family business only to have trouble with the IRS. The D.A. harassed him over child support. A judgment had his license to do insurance repair suspended by the Attorney General. He has had enough of California so he packs up and moves to Nevada.
He gets a new job, new apartment and is moving forward. On a hike with friends he gets ahead of them and gets, literally, "beamed up" by aliens. The description of the involvement of the aliens, star souls, light and dark angels is a bit intricate at first but, as it plays out in the story, it makes sense. Following his visit with the aliens, Jerry has a purpose in his life. He has a message to spread to as many people as he can. But there are those that don't want the message spread.
What follows is an action packed saga between good and evil with an underlying love story thrown in. Going beneath the surface of the story though there are some deeper, good messages. Feder covers a lot of ideas on religion and government in his slim, 125 page book. The only problem I had with the book, and granted it might be because I'm old fashion, is that every time God was mentioned in the text it was "G-d". For me, that isn't reverence it's a profanity but like I said maybe I'm old fashion - it drove me nuts. Overall though, it is a good story that keeps you turning the pages
