Excerpt from chapter 10

He was on the third step, going up, when he heard Edwards voice behind him.
"Holy mother of..."
"What is it?" Tom choked, interrupting him again, as he turned back down into the dark cellar and moved forward.
Edward was coming toward him now, but he was moving backward, his flashlight beam directed at the small side room that lay in front.
Tom noticed he was fumbling with his holster as he tried to remove his gun.
Just as Tom approached him, he saw it. The large statue like figure was hunched down like a wild cat, ready to pounce. The purple eyes glowed fiercely as it scanned the room. Its head moved unnatural like, darting from side to side.
Its white marble like face seemed to change shape as it looked from man to man. Its mouth curled down at the edges and it menacingly gripped and waved a small sword, while holding a large round shield in its other arm.
"Oh dear Lord no," Edward moaned.
"What the hell is this?" Tom whispered.
Tom knew in an instant that this creature was not human. He also knew that it was a certainty that it had perpetrated these crimes.
How do you go about arresting something that's not human? Tom thought. And how do you kill something that's perhaps already dead?
Maybe this thing had its own reasons for killing the Oatmans and Taylor, and just maybe if we don't bother it, it won't bother us.
"This thing is not from our world Edward," Tom stated as he lowered his gun.
Edward had removed his revolver now, and he moved it to chest height and cocked the hammer.
"Do like I say Edward, and lower your gun," Tom ordered his colleague. Edward stared ahead, and Tom knew he wasn't listening.
"Lower your damn gu..."
Blam, blam, blam, echoed around the room as Edward ignored him and blasted away at the creature, which now had another short dagger drawn and was moving out from the side room.
"Damn you Edward," Tom yelled, but raised his own weapon and fired three direct hits into the large soldiers head.
Beams of light were moving everywhere now, and Edward screamed as his flashlight fell to the floor.
Tom turned to run, and managed the first few steps. But now the cops outside had decided to become involved, and they charged down into the cellar.
"Nooo!" Tom screamed, as the weight of the body of men pushed him back down into the dark freezing room.

Excerpt

This is the story of Joshua Morris, an only child, who has been bullied for most of his pain filled life. Not only by the other boys, but by a violent, sadistic, drunken brute of a father.
This man had shown Joshua just what the words,'cruelty,' and 'hardship,' could mean. Then Joshua hears someone say that his guardian angel has turned its back on him. Joshua has never heard the words, 'guardian angel' before, and he decides to make some enquiries about it.

Now Joshua has been guided into a dark world he could never have imagined. From somewhere in the deepest depths of Hell, a fearsome creature has been summoned.

Now it's payback time for all those who have wronged Joshua. Blood will be spilled, and none will escape it.

Because now cometh, THE SPARTAN.
