Violet’s Manor, Bonds of Kinship gives the reader a brief glimpse into the lives of Freedmen in the American south.

Sybil is the adopted daughter of prominent Virginia Tobacco planter, Samuel Walker. Born to Cherokee and Saponi nobility, she quickly learns that her life of wealth and privilege cannot shield her from the harsh realities she must face as a "Free Person of Color" in the Pre-Civil War South.

Sybil leaves the protection of her father's plantation in Lynchburg, for Hamilton, Tennessee and the Violet's Manor plantation. She will find herself entangled in a chain of secrets, lies and betrayal. In the midst of this chaos Sybil will discover her identity and much more.

This saga spans three generations and takes us through some of 19th century America’s most turbulent periods. Will the Walker’s family bond withstand the challenges and obstacles ahead?
“It’s funny, Robert, that the loudest voices
of rebellion are coming from the least of us, those who have
hardly a pence in their pocket. When you speak of rule and
control, it is those of us with privilege and power that control
the minds of our impoverished southern neighbors. They
follow like lambs to a slaughter; and unfortunately for them,
they will be the ones who will ultimately pay with their own
ignorant lives. Isn’t that right, old friend?”
