The journey is the reward, even though, the actual target can no
longer be seen. In the past years, I often lost my way. This path of
life began by following my dreams. A path, full of stones, still
blocking my way. At the beginning there was so much love, a love we
felt was worth fighting for. A love, full of hope and desire, between
an Austrian woman (myself) and a strong, unique Puerto Rican soldier.
The challenging path of life we walked together, whilst living with
the US army and trying to establish a home between our different
worlds and cultures, lead us to many joyful and sad hours.
The purpose of my book is to prove that it is worth believing and
making dreams come true, even if they don't work out as planned.
Your mind and soul still grow.
It's never too late to believe in dreams.
Miracles only happen to those who believe in them.
I hope that everyone who reads "My side of the story", which is in
fact, the story of my dreams and my past love, will understand the mixed
feelings, a person can go through, when she/he follows her/his dreams,
whether they are good or bad.
My wish is that the reader is able to relate and sympathize with my
story and find inspiration to write down their own stories.
The world is full of dreams, we just have to open our eyes, and
fulfil our dreams, as many people are not living them.

To everyone, who plans or is in an intercultural marriage! About 12 years ago I married an US army soldier. Being young and from far away countries, we started a journey of living a life, full of ups and downs together. In the meantime, we go our separate ways, though we will remain friends forever. A few years ago I wrote this book about our story. I think that it can be a great help for someone, who is planning such a big step, or who finds her/himself in a difficult marriage situation. Writing the book, was just a step, that I felt I should take. Now I can see that my book "My side of the story" can also provide some good help to others. I think that this book can be read for many reasons: - to learn from my experiences and prevent similar mistakes - to better understand culture issues - to get to know a young woman with clear goals in her mind - to sit back, relax and just enjoy a novel and real life story. A couple of years have passed since I wrote this book. A lot has changed, I have changed! Though one remains the same: “I still think with my heart and for sure I will always do so!” Have a lovely day and good luck! Sabine

“My Side of the Story” This is an endearing and heartwarming love story. It is a young women’s account of her struggles dealing with the different culture and language in her intercultural marriage. Many readers, who are in similar situations, could relate to her personal feelings and experiences and learn from them.

“My side of the story” I read the book in one day, because the story touched me deep in my heart. Also my boyfriend was very impressed by the book and Sabines strong personality. I can recommend this book to everyone who likes real lovestories and for people who think with their heart and not with their mind.

“My side of the story” As so often love meets us unexpectedly. A true story between two people from different backgrounds who fall madly in love with each other. Being young, free and full of hope that their love can conquer all difficulties, they go to live in a foreign land and eventually get married. …but life and love are full of ups and downs… I’d like to recommend this book to all people who love to read this kind of stories. From the very beginning, this book grabs your attention and does not let go even as the last page closes to an end.

“Jump in” Crazy little thing called love – it causes us to do strange, inexplicable and unlogical things, especially when we’re young, but still we feel compelled to follow our heart’s call without compromise. This book “My side of the story” is a young Austrian woman’s authentic narrative, that is spell-binding and proceeds at fast speed. It quickly takes you onto a rollercoaster journey through a very passionate time of the author’s young life. The reader may have to get used at first to the emotional language, which sometimes expresses just glimpses of thoughts or memories, that are not essentially lined up in chronological order. Nevertheless, once you let yourself get into Sabine’s story and way of telling it, you can find your own self side by side with her, jumping for joy as well as sadly shedding tears with her as you watch her journey move on.
