A Place Called Acceptance is a powerful resource for congregations who want to be communities of welcome and encouragement for families of children with disabilities.
Kathleen Deyer Bolduc
When children are born with a disability, or are disabled from illness or accident, parents grieve. Not only do they grieve, they also face extraordinary pressures on top of the normal stresses and strains that are part and parcel of the parenting experience. And yet, these families are often overlooked within the ministries of our churches. Too often, parents themselves are expected to spearhead any ministry efforts that would allow their child to participate in the life of the church community...In a world that judges a person's worth on physical attributes and accomplishment, these families desperately need a place to belong; a place that will love and embrace their children just as they are, regardless of physical, cognitive, or behavioral disabilities.
