A teenage
Internet hacker puts a computer virus on the Internet with the intention to destroy hard drives. Instead, it somehow comes alive in the vast expanse of cyber space and slowly evolves into a super intelligence. As it grows, it begins to control peoples minds until half the worlds' population becomes "Web Crazed". The situation can now best be described as bleak as, little by little, all hope begins to fade...

The Internet can best be described as a vast underground of interconnected electrical impulses. Who really knows what goes on in that unseen worldwide realm between reality and virtual cyber space? Is the Internet primed and ready for a catastrophic situation to occur? Is It possible that a computer program could take over the Human Race? Will the onset of the computer age mean the end of Mankind as we know it? In this novel, the unthinkable is about to happen. People no longer control their own thoughts as one man is called upon to try and stop this hideous dilemma . Does he have the determination and perseverance to overcome this horrific abomination? Will he have the strength and persistence to succeed?

Rifle rounds zinged close over our heads like angry bees as we both crouched tight against the sand dune. Harry started to raise his head to peek over the edge of the dune and I grabbed him. “No! Stay down!” I hollered, wheezing and out of breath. I looked at my handheld locator device and continued, “We only have a few feet left to go. Let's get to it, we don't have much time.”
The sweat dripped off my forehead onto the face of the locator as I checked it again. The secret dugout was emitting a high frequency beam that the locator was picking up. It indicated the hideout to be about twenty feet in the opposite direction of the advancing Iraqi troops.
“I gotta see where they are,” he blurted between heavy breaths.

Matt Carrigan is a 20 year CIA veteran field agent. After escaping from an Iraqi prison where he'd been held for two years, Matt's determined to quit the agency and rekindle a romance with Lisa. But Carrigan is persuaded into one last assignment: older people are suddenly and inexplicably killing their loved ones. Lisa tags along as the crisis worsens and becomes worldwide. Carrigan must find and stop the person or persons responsible for this global tragedy which becomes so severe and epidemic that the President is in a military stronghold in Utah for his own safety. The situation is bleak and hope begins to fade -- but Carrigan won't give up, won't stop, no matter what or who gets in the way.

Web Craze is a superbly crafted novel of absorbing interest and compelling engagement.

Great read!
Matt Carrigan was a twenty-year CIA veteran when he escaped from the Iraqi prison which had held him for two years. Now home, he only wants to quit the CIA, try to make up with his girlfriend, Lisa, and settle down into a normal life. The CIA Director and the President of the United States convinced Matt to take one last assignment.

Lisa became Matt's personal assistant and joined him as they tried to figure out why people were suddenly and unexplainably killing the ones they loved. It soon became a world wide problem. After much investigation, it turned out a subconscious virus was being spread from the Internet. Now the virus has taken on a life of its own. Matt's mind control is the only thing that saves him. But even he is not immune. However, it is up to Matt to find a cure and quickly, because now it has Lisa.

***Be warned that there is a lot of explicit sex in the first half of this story. I definitely recommend this one to all who like spy or tech thrillers! I reviewed an uncorrected copy. The back gave away the entire book except the last couple of chapters. Therefore, when you purchase it, do not read the back, just in case it is printed out the same as my copy is. That way you will find one surprise after another. Ron Cox has created a tech thriller which is made scary in the fact that some day this COULD happen! A powerful piece of work!***

CIA special agent Carrigan is assigned to investigate and crack the case of a worldwide epidemic of violence and murder. Regular family members like you and me fall victim to this strange phenomenon, killing our loved ones in a fit of rage.

Ron Cox's Web Craze is a powerful look at the dark side of Internet mind control on a global scale. The setup is smooth, and the characters are well developed and quite believable. Mr Cox's writing is vivid splashed with neon colors, making his novel a joy to read.
