Words of wisdom from Dad to his friends and family. May his words help you
Each of us has been given words that have changed our lives. Often it is the wisdom of our fathers, grandfathers, mothers, and grandmothers that encouraged us to take the right path in life.
The reading of Phil’s words may trigger the words that were given to you. You are encouraged to write them down to reflect on, to pass on to your children, and to share with friends. You are encouraged to write down your favorite words to pass on to future generations. Enjoy Phil’s words and may they help you in some way.
Sincerely,
Tuchy, son of Phil
Excerpt
A Father Means:
A father means so may things...
An understanding heart,
A source of strength and of support
Right from the very start.
A constant readiness to help
In a kind and thoughtful way,
With encouragement and forgiveness
No matter what comes your way.
A special generosity and always affection, too
A father means so many things
When he’s a man like you.
—Author Unknown
“Carl, walk on my back.” Dad worked very hard and at the
end of the day his back was sore, so he had us walk on his back
with our bare feet. Because I was the smallest and the lightest
I got the job more than any other son. This was the poor man’s
massage and we did this most evenings.
2) “Carl, God has good plans for you.” This is what Dad told me
some weeks after he heard of my marital troubles. I’m sure Dad
said this to my siblings during their tough times.
3) “Come, Mommy will make you something good to eat.” Dad
often invited us home to eat, especially in times of celebration or
in times of trouble. We were always welcome and both Dad and
Mom were happy to see us.

THERE IS NO TIME LIKE DAD TIME
There is no time like dad time., March 11, 2008
By Laura A. Patrick (Roanoke, Va USA) - See all my reviews
As tender as a mother's love can be, a father's love is also precious. Our fathers teach us all kinds of important things - how to work hard, be imaginative, and to use what we have handy to fix things.
This book brought back lots of memories of my own dad. The fishing, the household chores, the wisdom that comes with age and with children. I loved this book, and sent it on to my own dad. I am sure that he will love it too.
REMEMBERING DAD
Remembering Dad, February 18, 2008
By Jenn Thomas "Eclectic freak" (DFW Area, TX, USA) - See all my reviews
My father passed away when I was seventeen years old and I never really got the chance to gain the sorts of memories that Tuchy Palmieri has of his own father. I like to think that had Daddy lived longer, this book may have come from my own pen. And Tuchy, in this book, has given me the opportunity to make it so, after a fashion.
The beginning of this book is a short biography of the author's father, and describes his family and work ethics, as well as his final illness and death. Phil's passing reminded me very much of my own father's passing, and I found myself weeping, for Phil and his family, as well as for my own father and my own family. Very powerfully and emotionally written.
The main body of the book is filled with quotes by Tuchy's remarkable Dad, on subjects ranging from eating one's meals to working, to being a member of a family and on through the spectrum of life.
Sprinkled throughout the book are sections wherein the reader is encouraged to write down the words of their own father or grandfather. I am looking forward to putting my head together with my sister, my uncle, and family friends to record my own Dad's oft-repeated sayings, and keeping his memory alive through the pages of this book.
Just like in "Josephine: In Her Words", Tuchy Palmieri has brought the past to life, and made a person most of us never had the chance to know real and tangible, and in so doing has reminded us of those in our own family and their words of wisdom and love.
Consider this book as a gift for Father's Day or for a new father.
MY DREAM DAD
My Dream Dad, February 12, 2008
By Lionpro "Deborah" (Florida) - See all my reviews
As soon as I began to read I knew that this author was describing the kind of dad I always wanted to have. One who loved his family, his work, his life, and his surroundings. One who believed in fellow men and had faith that bad times could be overcome by the good ones. "Phil, In His Words: Our Dad" describes the perfect father.
My emotions went haywire throughout my reading. At times I was in tears while other times I was laughing. I was impressed by the strength and courage held my each family member and the closeness they shared brought chills to my bones. The amount of love, pride, and ambition shown by the dad allowed each of the six children to grow in to fine adults. He made sure that his family had a bond that could never be broken.
If you are looking for a read that is well-written, interactive, memory enhancing, family oriented, and full of hope then this is the book for you.
