A thrilling story of demonic possession and its terrible outcome. Strange and ominous things happen when Johnny Dove buys a haunted pen and enters the crossroads of his life.
Welcome to the haunted world of Johnny Dove, the main character of The Possessed, a novel that captures all the fear and angst of the post-911 malaise. Johnny Dove was once a successful writer who's gone cold with writer's block. In order to salvage his life, he must turn out another bestseller. So what is this writer who has been forsaken by friends, wife, family, literary agent, publisher and the reading public to do? Turn to drink? Commit suicide?
Enter Mr. Van Brunt, an antique dealer of a shabby little store on Atlantic Avenue. He has the solution. It's a haunted antique pen. Johnny buys it without knowing the full extent of its evil powers. Yes, perhaps there is something to this antique pen, something truly evil. Perhaps it is enchanted, or better perhaps it truly is a haunted pen. To Johnny's mind that can only mean one thing - another best seller!!

The Possessed
Johnny Dove is a writer who has developed a severe case of writer's block. His publisher is nagging him, but he is just plain stuck until he walks into a little antique shop to have a look around. Johnny's problem is revealed during a casual chat with the shop's eccentric keeper, who sells him a one of a kind pen, the spirit haunting the pen consumes him and Johnny gradually begins losing his sanity and well being. As the malevolent spirit takes over Johnny, he relives all of his vicious previous accounts of murder and satanism.
Soon everything Johnny writes begins to happen around him, and he is possessed by a high priest of Satan, who has no qualms about murdering or bringing back the dead to life to do his bidding. This story kept me involved. I didn't want to put it down - I wanted to find out what happened next. Because of its explicit nature, this book may not be appropriate for all libraries or readers, but public libraries are building large collections of horror fiction with patrons who enjoy this genre and want to take a look.

The Possessed
Writer's block is when a writer simply can't come up with anything, even if a gun is held to his head. "The Possessed" follows Johnny Dove as he faces this problem and his world falls apart. With nowhere to turn, Johnny accepts a risk and buys what is promoted as a haunted pen. What's the worst that can happen? "The Possessed" is highly recommended to horror fans and for community library collections.
