Listening to GOD
Understanding our role as a Christian in todays society.
The object of this book is to present a brief but comprehensive view of the responsibility of today’s Christian. The book is simply a handbook or introduction to the author’s view on listening to God and the role and duty of a Christian in today’s society. It deals with thoughts and suggestions to be used by the reader as an outline for their own life.
As the author leads us along throughout the book, it is noted that the responsibility of a Christian belongs to all of us. The author’s interpretation is based on scripture and experience. The book is intended to stir questions in the reader’s minds to help lead them to their own discernment along their Christian journey.
“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.” Matthew 25: 35-36
Are we listening to the scripture, or merely reading it? We constantly hear through these scriptures to look after God’s children and to change the injustices in our world, but still many people continue to look away? Why is it that we cannot be convinced to act upon these very words? Even I have heard the scripture’s read, and the homily’s spoken, but it does not always sink in. Many times I have heard to “Love your neighbor as yourself”, and I know that this is a commandment of great importance. If we all truly followed that commandment and loved our neighbors as ourselves, there would be no misery in this world. There would be no wars or rumors of war. There would be no crime, no hatred, no envy, only peace.
