Phillip Marnier; a shy, lovable boy who was so introverted; his only friends were his siblings.

Soon enough though, a young man named Andrew makes his acquaintance. They build a rock-solid friendship. Or is it?

Years later; there is another man involved and old feelings that had been hidden away come to the surface. Will the truth be known? Who wants to own the heart of Phillip?

Excerpt

Phillip stepped closer to the boy and tried to see his brown eyes from behind his thick hair. Andrew allowed his friend to touch him; he couldn’t help it any longer. Just being this near to his friend made his pulse jump! He took a deep breath and shut his eyes and just said it.
“I wanted to be your boyfriend”. He swerved away from the teen’s touch and took off then, running down the hallway.

BOOK REVIEW:
Phillip always thought of himself as an average young man, from his family to has unremarkable school life. Phillip is very shy and never made friends easily until one fateful day when he was twelve when he realized that he was gay. This drove him into his shell where no one would ever know or hurt him.

His height and emotional personality made things even more difficult for him until he was approached by Andrew who was two years younger than him. The two immediately became fast friends and spent all of their time together. As the two grew up, they changed outwardly, but inside they became everything to each other.

Andrew realizes that he wants more than just friendship from Phillip, but before he has a chance to tell him, Phillip introduces Andrew to his boyfriend Robert. This is just the beginning of the triangle between Robert, Phillip, and Andrew. How will Phillip, who never thought of himself as very desirable, deal with the emotional drama that will play out? Will Andrew and Robert fight for their man? Who will, in the end, win Phillip’s heart for all time?

Ms. Danielson has created a story with drama and flair that keeps the reader wanting more. The mixed up and very convoluted relationship between the three is one that many people have seen. The heartbreak, laughter and devious actions of Andrew and Robert are at times brilliant. I loved how Andrew as a ten year old was strong enough to approach Phillip. It is fascinating to watch Phillip’s emotional rollercoaster as he works through his relationships with Andrew and Robert, sometimes not so successfully, but that only shows his humanity. If you enjoy stories with contemporary and true to life characters then this book is a must read.

An Engaging and Interesting Story!
"For the Heart of Phillip" is an interesting and romantically heart felt story of young men seeking and finding love. It is well written in a way that draws the reader in and captures ones attention with uncanny realistic similarities to real life and romance.
The unexpected twists keep your attention as you move through the story chronologically. Overall, I liked the story and found it engaging. I give the author a thumbs up for realism with the subtle nuances and interesting twists. Good job!

3 of 5 swords by J.L. Montgomery
As a youngster, Phillip Marnier is very shy and withdrawn, riddled with self-condemnation, which only intensifies when he realises at about age ten that he is very likely gay. Although his parents are supportive and he gets along well with his siblings, Phillip deliberately avoids social contact and making friends, until one younger boy, Andrew, pushes himself into Phillip’s notice.

Shortly the two become not only friends, but best friends. As Andrew matures, he understands that he too is gay, and that he has fallen firmly in love with Phillip.

Phillip, however, continues clueless, since his zero self-esteem won’t allow him to consider that anyone could care for him. When he introduces a third boy into the equation, Robert, he sets the triad on a path of continuing drama and heartache.

For the Heart of Phillip is a full revision of Ms. Danielson’s earlier novel, Love Resurrected, published in June 2007. This version delineates the characters much more fully so that we are able to understand why Phillip acts as he does, and the reasoning behind his “push-me pull-you” attitude toward the two men who love him and desire only the best for him. The plot also is more understandable and realistic.
