Never selected as the star of the school play, Tasia pouts about her simple and meaningless role of the elf in the Christmas play. Her mother shares a story of long ago that puts an elf named Brams in the leading role.
Brams is a loner who spends his days scouring through other peoples' garbage and throwaways. He's a collector of sorts. Brams lives the simple life of an elf, delivering buttons to factories and shops around the world. But his job allows him to do what he really loves collecting! His travels take him to farway lands full of treasures only he can see. The villagers call it junk until one day his stash evolves into an everlasting gift!
"Tryouts for the school Christmas program were today and once again I've been picked to be the elf. I really wanted to be the ballerina or the teddy bear. I would have even liked to be the toy soldier, but, as always, I'm the elf."
"Being the elf is a special role," Mom said as she sat on the couch next to Tasia. "Elves have a very important role in Christmas. In fact, without them, Christmas would be very different."
