Humanity lives in just one tiny stellar system, in one small part of one typical galaxy, which has perhaps 400 billion stars, and perhaps 100's of billions of planets. Our Galaxy is just one of some 400 billion (or more). In all this vastness, is there only us? Where do we come from? Why are we here?

In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth. For thousands of years, people of many religions and theologies read with awe and attempted to understand the impact of these few words. Creationists, or those who believe that the Bible is accurate in all aspects, specify that God’s miraculous intervention can be the only plausible explanation for the origins of the universe. In addition, creationists explain that life, not to mention the great number of species, both of plants and animals that exists on earth, were brought into being exactly as described in Genesis 1:1 – 2:4. According to some accounts, and they do not necessarily agree with each other, the length of time involved in and since the creation is less than 6,000 years. However, this is most probably less than the age of the Egyptian Pyramids. Many creationists accept the idea that faith will suffice when faced with difficult questions. One fundamentalist I know, when asked about such things as evolution, the big bang, and cosmology simply states that she does not like to think about such things.
