La familia se puso de acuerdo de que ése iba a ser el regalo porque era lo más precioso que podían ofrecer. Entonces la mamá preparó un pan que al salir del horno, inundó la pequeña choza con un aroma que penetraba a través de su crujiente masa dorada. Lo envolvió en papel sencillo, lo colocó en una canasta, y la familia se dirigió a la fiesta.

The family agreed that the bread would be the best gift they could offer. So the mom baked a loaf of bread till the crust was crisp and golden brown, and the aroma filled their little cabin. She wrapped it in a plain paper wrapper, put it in a basket and they set off for the party.

You start off with something that piqued my interest. I was settling in with my coffee to read more and realized I probably will buy this book. If anyone can hook me with a few sentences by demonstrating a scene like that...I want to read more. And I'm picky!
