A memoir of dancing, energetic blue-eyed Arne Blomquist who launches the author on a journey of insight and new thought. Arne's ordeal with a deadly cancer and his desire for QUALITY OF LIFE over Life at Any Cost, becomes the catalyst for their adventure into the realm of holistic/alternative therapies. Their story is informative, often mirthful, sometimes frustrating and shocking as he is punished when the worlds of holistic/alternative treatments and conventional medicine collide.
Meet Blue-eyed, energetic Arne Blomquist, full of life and positive energy. Share the joy and mirth he and Jean share as they dance their way through many adventures. Share their shock as they learn Arne has a deadly cancer of the neck and carotid artery.
Walk with them as they pursue Holistic/Alternative therapies in a strange little town called Sedona, Arizona. Meet the friendly, caring people who share their knowledge and expertise. Feel their shock and dismay and read the punishment Arne receives when conventional medicine and holistic/alternative therapies collide.
Celebrate with them Arne's cure of cancer number one, then their sadness at learning that cancer number two, not discovered for lack of a timely x-ray, is too far along to save him.
Be with Jean as Arne, on several occasions, returns from the Other Side to give her messages and a warning.
Excerpt
". . .The following day, nervous, we spiritually and physically held each other's hand, and once again, stepped into the abyss. . ."
'. . .The doctor turned his attention to Arne and began to ask him questions about his health. As the two talked we noticed that Dr. Houston kept his right arm hanging over the side of his chair and into a good-sized plastic wastebasket at his side. Every so often, in the course of their conversation, the doctor's arm would gyrate wildly, banging against the inside of the container. When at last he rose and walked out of earshot Arne looked at me in consternation.
'What the hell is he doing?' He whispered.
I shrugged in dismay. 'Don't know,' I whispered back. We discovered later that he was dowsing with the use of something called a pendulum. . ."

A Five Beacon Review for Dance Interrupted by Jean Sidney Blomquist
The tale of the life and death of a cancer patient, Arne, who opts not to follow the treatment regimen offered by his doctors. It is the story of his choice to die as he had lived, independently and of his own making, following the path of holistic medicine.
This story grabbed my attention from the first sentence and held it through to the very end. I think it is a story that we should all read in order to prepare ourselves for the choices we will all need to make eventually.
The story is well-written, warm, engaging and enlightening. I feel that anyone will be able to take something affirming from it's words. It is a simple story, with no pretence or "preaching," and allows the reader to make his/her own choice.
I greatly appreciated the warmth, love and devotion with which it was written and am eternally grateful that the author (Arne's wife) was willing to tell his tale. And I thank Arne himself for opening my eyes and heart to possibilities I never knew existed. A great read~the result of a life greatly lived!"

After thirty years of marriage, which ended in divorce, Jean felt that her life was over. She was too old to start over and too old to learn a new way. Then she met Arne. Arne was full of life, a bright spark in an otherwise mundane existance. Jean and Arne found romance and love, dancing through their days, while Jean learned to accept joy and began to trust again. Jean, a spiritual woman, taught Arne about the wonderful mysteries that continue to unfold in our world. Arne became ill with cancer and his illness led them on a trek through a myriad of holistic treatments and medicines. They met kind, caring people with incredible abilities who treated Arne and supported them through many difficult times.
Jean shares her story with us through a beautifully written personal narrative; her sincerity warming the hearts of her readers. She is writing to help others, for not only does she write about Arne's treatments, describing them in detail, she includes a list of suggested readings at the back of her book. This comprehensive list allows the reader a good beginning into research of the many holistic treatments available. She also includes a list of organizations that can be contacted for more help.
