As the poems included in this book are mainly personal and based on the personal social experiences, so in this preview I would like to give a one or two line description of all the poems included in my book “Expressions – My Mind’s Impressions”.   1. Let’s Make Him a Man - It discusses the ways how terrorists can be humanized and made to realize the pain which they give to the world.   6. Lovely or Ugly - It discusses the two faces of love which can be both, either destructive or constructive.   7. A Beggar’s World - The emotions of a mother who feels sorry about her new born child as he will also be called a beggar like her in the world of beggars.   8. If You Love Someone - The love of a person is worthless until the time the other understands it.   9. Three Things Always Matter - Three things which always affect our lives.   10. Unison to Salvation - It discusses the purpose of God for creating both men and women on the earth.   11. A Warrior’s Daughter - It presents the emotions of a daughter who pleads to stop the war in which she lost her father.   12. Universal Trends - It discusses some trends of the universe which man has followed since his evolution on the earth.   13. A Victim of Beauty - The rising graph of innocent women in our community. A question is raised. Who is responsible? Her beauty or the person who destroys it.   14. Fission and Fusion: The Nuclear Confusion - Presents the repercussions of the nuclear war if it is ever initiated by us as we have already accumulated the dangerous weapons for it.   15. Unjust Justice - The emotions of a woman who couldn't achieve happiness in her love.   16. My Soul…My Companion - The misery of a person who lacks support from every sphere of the world but gets the support from his soul who consider him to be correct and encourages him to move forward in life.   17. What a Contrast!! - This presents the contrast between a human mind and a human heart, living in a single body, how they differ from each other.   18. Poverty versus Prosperity - It presents the difference created between human beings because of wealth.   19. Crush to Marriage - It presents the journey of a woman from her crush to her permanent love and the happy dissolution of all in her marriage.   20. Chained Freedom - It presents the condition of the present age man who runs throughout his life to satisfy his dreams of wealth and happiness but dies frustrated at the end as his soul remains unsatisfied with those lavish but temporary goals.   21. Loved and Left - In reference to a line which was used by one of the characters in the drama "All for Love" written by John Dryden. This poem gives an answer to the sentence and shows that although to be loved and left can be a good experience for same, but can’t stand true for everyone.   22. My Man - The emotions of a woman who thanks god for fulfilling her dreams and providing the man of her imaginations as her life partner.   23. I Dream of America - It presents the dream of a 10-year old child who has never been to America and sets the imaginations about the nation on the basis of what he watches on television.   24. My First Love Experience - The emotions of a young girl who has fallen in love for the first time and is amazed at the change which she finds in herself and the way she looks at the world.   25. Artificial Glitter - On the artificiality of the modern age where people prefer to do those works which bring them in the limelight without giving any kind of importance to satisfaction and happiness.   26. Indelible Marks - The emotions of a woman who is separated from her lover but not able to forget her lover's reminisces, as it was the first and the sweetest experience of her life.   27. Cunning Innocence - It deals with the sufferings a woman undergoes after being cheated by her lover. But ends with an optimistic note as she decides to succeed in her life and also teach him a lesson even if she had to go to the extent of taking revenge from him.   28. Love and Physicality - The permanence of love and the reasons that makes it temporary for some and permanent for others.   29. Oh Dear!! - The differences between the ways a human mind and a human heart deals with distressing situations in a human life.   30. Modern World - It deals with the depression which has crept in the modern world due to obsession with the wealth and importance to the appearance.   31. Beware Machine Age!! - It presents the adverse affects on nature because of the growth of technologies in the modern age. It warns the human beings for playing with nature.   32. Thanks, My Cheat - It presents the emotions of a girl who after being cheated by her lover decides to succeed in her life and achieve much higher goals than him even if she had to take revenge on him. Excerpt It’s a book of poetry focused on the intrinsic emotions of love, hatred and anger and gives principal importance to the feelings of innocent first love and the conflict between the mind and the heart which makes a person suffer but also grow with it. Due to the feelings of hatred and anger, the urge for social justice is revealed while tackling the social issues in some of the poems. By the end of this book, one would have completed the journey of entering into the mind of a person torn between the voice of the heart and the mind. The heart seems to win in the beginning when the feeling of love sprouts with the first glance but the mind takes over with the passing time and shows the other side of the coin. And the final victory is declared when both the heart and the mind come together on the single platform and thus achieve their permanent love. This book tears apart each and every thought which a person undergoes from the point he starts thinking about love to the point he actually achieves it. The biggest irony explored is by the time a person actually achieves his love, the meaning of love with which he starts comes out with a completely different but always a more satisfying face at the end. The social concerns discussed reflect the mind of a person in love who becomes sensitive towards everything which hurts others and the frustration caused due to it is beautifully revealed through the poems.

Expressions - My Mind's Impressions: Review by the Poet
A few years back, as a literature student, I read about the poetry and the skills required for it. The most interesting was the interpretation which I read for “Daffodils” by Wordsworth where his own definition of poetic justice was shown in a beautiful manner. I may have forgotten the steps to reach the poetic justice but will always remember the meaning of a poem which he gave as the sudden outburst of emotions or the instant outpour of feelings. I actually felt this while writing the poems for my book Expressions- My Mind’s Impressions. All the poems were written in a limited span of time when my mind and heart both used to be engrossed with the thoughts of love and justice. From the feelings aroused by the first shared glance to the moment of the realization when the reality showed its ugly face, each and every scene of that phase is brought in front of the world through my poems.

Love, the nucleus of most of the poems had become central to my life. Suddenly, the life had changed and everything in the world appeared beautiful even the most ugly ones. And it is true that others know about the budding love before the person knows herself. All my friends had started complimenting about the change in my behavior and the transformation of my restlessness into an ever smiling face. I agreed and till now remember that phase of my life as a magical point which had attracted everything towards it. It is true that the first experience of love can’t ever be forgotten whether you experience it in your imaginations or meet it in reality.

But life didn’t remain the same after the disclosure of reality and the realization of being fooled by own imaginative thoughts with the help of the purest emotion of this earth. And from that day, my feelings entered into a practical world forever. The outpour of emotions didn’t stop as it shifted from the imaginary fairy land to the realistic platform where everything seemed very ugly. Poems like “Modern World”, “Beware Machine Age”, “A Victim of Beauty” and a few more are the lamentations of my soul on the miserable conditions after stepping into the true world. A voice came from inside to improve the worldly conditions, make people aware of the realities of life and guide them to help each other to mould the world. I became more determined with the passing time and started contemplating more and more on the social issues. But, the bitterness of the unattained love used to raise its face at the most difficult points when my mind following my heart was forced to divert and outpour the feelings through my poems trying the best to forget and this can be viewed in poems “Thanks, My Cheat”, “Cunning Innocence” and a few others which you will find in the book.

I became more spiritual and my prayers included only one wish and always the same. With eyes welled up with tears, my soul used to beg to forget the past. But, things seemed to grow worse with time as I didn’t keep patience. At last, the God listened to my prayers and sent the gift of happiness and the craving for attainment in the form of a friend. His support paved a new path for me and helped me in removing the spiteful aspects which had covered my soul. And finally after reaching this phase, I knew about the true reality that the love for which I lamented was not love in true sense but just a fascination. The true love of my life was standing in front of me extending his hands. I could not have been able to forget the bitterness until I had realized the actual sense of that phase of my life which had come to teach the biggest lesson. My friend made me understand and my soul thanked the almighty for showering his mercy. It was the moment when I realized about my foolishness and laughed at those tears which I had dropped for my childish dreams.

By this point, you must be astonished about the kind of love I have talked about in this whole review. But, you would be much more stunned to know that the love for which I was ready to maim my life was a person whom I had never met or talked but only shared a glance and set my expectations about him and determined to attain him as my first love. But, after hearing about his real character which was not according to my fascinations my soul felt embittered by the reality much lower than the imaginations. It seemed as the very first dream of my life had scattered but didn’t ever try to understand that dream was just a dream which remains in the imaginary world and cannot be connected to my real life.

After writing this book, my soul feels very lightened and enlightened as well and my mind laughs at my foolishness. But my heart is still serious as it firmly believes in destiny and says that if this phase had not been a part of my life, the most precious gift of the God in the form of my lovely friend would have never dared to ask for my hand and become my husband.
