Excerpt
Raymond wasn't sorry most of the other men had drowned. He was only sorry that Manuel hadn't gone to the bottom of the Pacific with them. The Mexican, or Puerto Rican, or whatever the hell he was, sat across from Raymond in the yellow inflatable raft, his hairy brown arms thrown out, resting on the sides of the raft, his legs spread before him. Manuel was probably in his late forties and was always grinning -- a mean grin that split his raggedly-bearded face and showed off his perfect, gleaming teeth.
