Tell them about your long thick sideburns,
Chiseled muscular body and
Your slow swagger is not some deliberate act.
Often criticized or stigmatized for trying to look like a man.
Trying to be a man.
The truth, you are a STUD.
This is how Spirit made you.
The fact is, Studs donít want to look like men.
You want to look the way we feel physically, emotionally or spiritually.
A Stud is a broad spectrum.
Many are phenotypically female, but genetically male!
Some not only is hormonally and chemically male,
We have male attributes!
According to many physicians, we are born with the natural overproduction of the male hormone testosterone.
Some of us have minimal to no production of female hormones.
So I ask, are Studs wrongfully discriminated against because they may have more male chromosomes or born with an over production of testosterone?
Western society demands every birth should be conceived with XY or XX chromosomes. Typically these chromosomes will grow up to be male or female.
External and internal organs that is clearly distinguishable.
Therefore those born an XY or XX will be naturally attracted to the opposite sex.
This is never the case when a female infant is born with male chromosomes and hormones

Book Review For STUD; Dispelling The Myths

Azaan Kamauís self-published book Stud; Dispelling The Myths is riveting from beginning to end. The subject matter, the content, the photography and artistic is a masterpiece in lesbian literature and self-publishing. Azaan is not only a literary genius, she is teacher and educator.
The book is entertaining uplifting, but generally informative. The book dispels myths about many things woman endure globally whether, they are lesbian or not. It also talks about how homophobia dictates makes or breaks.
The book literally affirms the lives of women whose out physical appearance defies the norm or what is expected or accepted. It boldly makes the point that sex and gender are not the same thing. It makes a clear and encouraging statement that, you may be born into a femaleís body, but your chemical make-up or gender can be something entirely different! Stud; Dispelling The Myths conveys that masculine lesbians, studs, butches, bois, doms, aggressives all have the same basic needs like every human being!
As a stud, Azaan recognized the need for a voice, and positive visibility as it pertains to masculine lesbians. Personally I think itís about time people where educated about the many misconceptions, and embrace knowledge about lesbian people.
I think Stud; Dispelling The Myths is lesbian and womanist literature at itís very best. I see this book among Azaanís many others becoming an overwhelming success!
STUD, Dispelling The Myths By Azaan Kamau
BOOK REVIEW FOR STUD SIPELLING THE MYTHS
STUD, Dispelling The Myths was written to dispel the myths about being a stud/masculine identified woman in the SGL/lgbtq community, here or abroad. There are several myths and misguided beliefs that come from people who are entranced by negative media, or just have never been in the presence of a stud. There are also those instances where a person or people have had a negative experience with a stud/masculine woman, therefore they place every masculine woman in that same category. Itís like seeing a cover of book; you really donít know the contents until you read it, right? People are so quick to judge a book by itís cover.
Just because a person dresses a certain way or walks with a swagga, does not equate to her wanting to be a man or that she hates herself. This book was written to educate people of all walks of life including the SGL/lgbtq community. Just from personal experience, I have witnessed people in this community passing judgment without getting to know the individual. You would think it would be a better understanding, more acceptance in this community, but outside of the Christian communities, SGL/lgbtq communities are next in line with the stereotyping and the negativity. This must stop.
In many ways this amazing book is a how to manual! It teaches a woman indentifying as a Stud has a choice not to embrace negative dogma. She has a voice to speak out against it. She no longer needs to feel ashamed of who she is. She can express and define herself as she sees fit! This book will hopefully uplift and educate the youth who have been told up until the point in life that they are negative, and they need fixing. This book will open the eyes of America, and shout that Stud women are still women and still human.
I think this book is long overdue. I also think it touches on so many topic and myths that have shaped our culture as African Americans and as lesbians. Itís about time the truth be revealed so that we all can move on. Each one, one teach oneÖ.feel me!
The images beautiful and brilliant, depicting stud lesbians as they are, not how society deems them to be.
The content of this book is packed with everything. Itís funny, educational, empowering and painful. This is the type of book that once you start reading, you donít want to put it down. There is a message in everything written in the book. I believe that this book will teach people that it is ok to express your feeling, even the painful ones. To set themselves free and just beÖ.
I believe everyone of every race, religion and culture can thrive from this book. The book is very well written with an exceptional spiritual and sociological perspective. This is gay literature and poetry at its very best!
I simply love this book. I am so impressed by the author and guest commentators in the book. They all come from all aspects of life and has different views about being a stud, lesbian woman and I believe thatís what makes it so profound. To be able to get the REAL perception is amazing and is a brilliant idea for the author to do because it has never been done before. For me personally, a woman that loves women, this book proves what I have been saying all along. We are all women and should not be judged by personal appearance. These women came together and not only dropped knowledge, but expressed it intelligently and intellectually.
I think Azaan wrote this book because it has been calling to her soul for many years. Being a Stud, masculine identified woman, she has endured so many things since she was a child and noticed that she was different from other little girls. Being constantly reminded by family and others that she and her friends were dykes, bulldaggers, and that they were perverted, she felt compelled to do something about it as a child, but didnít know how. She knew a long time ago that she was no different than anyone else and decided that itís time to change the worldís perception. Itís time to get rid of the stereotypes, the labeling, the name calling and let people be who they are.
The special guest commentary and interviews are made up of prolific amazing butch/stud writers, poets, performers; DJ Nova Jade, LEGEND, QUE, and Damnyo!
Azaanís upcoming projects consist of numerous books and a fragrance/perfume company! Two of Azaanís upcoming books are STUD; The Diaries of Sex & Sexuality & The Memoirs of Madlyn F. Glover; The Love & Romance with Ray Charles Robinson!

Azaan Kamauís new book STUD; Dispelling The Myths is the equivalent to stud/butch anthropology! This mesmerizing book of womenís literature takes a hard look at historical stereotypes born of and from religion. Many of these same stereotypes that exist today have exiled and silenced women for decades.
Brilliantly written, Azaanís poetry takes you on visual journey into an unknown world, revealing a culture that has been historically undermined and overlooked. The book goes deep beneath the layers of social prejudice, misogyny, pain, and internalized homophobia
Stud also gives voice to religious persecution, child abuse in foster care, and also societyís heterosexism. It gives voice to women who have been taught and treated as if something is wrong with them, they need treatment, or God, etc, etc. The general populace often thinks, the stud woman wants to be a man. Stud; Dispelling The Myths eliminates such stereotypes and beliefs.
This remarkable book has a firm spiritual, yet self-affirming message, only you can define you!
Azaan has numerous literary projects lined up for future publication. Azaan recently published A Z A A N; Behind The Lens. Azaan is a passionate photographer, painter, and artist.
