NOSTALGIA and UNUSUAL ACTION, this is the first in a fantasy/adventure series of 4 about two 12-year-old boys growing up in 1960's East Anglia. From Poland in the war to a dash across Europe on the magical journey of a lifetime. Excitement for all the family!

It is Christmas 1962, and friends Eddie and Len have money to spend. George Canter, a Polish refugee from the war, has things to sell from his junk shop in Fenton-on-Sea, a sleepy East Anglian town where nothing ever happens.

That is about to change. Eddie buys a mysterious object from George and then the adventure begins, leading the two boys on a fantastic journey.

Eddie and Len soon learn that their adventure is not all it seems, making them question whether fantasy is reality or vice-versa, as they become pawns in the magical adventure of a lifetime.

“Oh what do we do Len?” cried Eddie.
Len, the eternal optimist, tried to console his friend, but without much
success. They stood in silence for a few minutes, each thinking about the
consequences of their loss. The emotional strain was beginning to take its toll.

“I need to rest and think. I was supposed to be in charge of the .....
Len, and I’ve failed to look after it,” sighed Eddie.

Mr. Canter’s words had come back to him: “You are its custodian …..”

Like a dog who had just seen its master die, Eddie slumped to the ground by a grassy hollow, not wishing to leave the scene of the .....’s demise.

Len sat down beside his friend and mental tiredness coupled with the
warmth of the afternoon caused them both to lie down and curl up, seeking
comfort in a semi-fetal posture and an escape into sleep.

Reader Reviews for "The Fantastic Journey"

Reviewed by Martyn Croft 2/28/2009
A very good family read., 25 Aug 2008
By Paul A. R. Rusiecki "bookworm" (Kent, U.K.) - See all my reviews

A wonderfully written story with an unusual ending. If you like adventure and fantasy based in East Anglia in the early sixties, then this will appeal to you. It's a shame that there's not more books like this on the market - a traditional adventure story without the tedium of science fiction or artificially created situations. I thoroughly recommend it.
