Have you ever had a dream with certain symbols that seem to appear in waking life? Ever wonder why this happens?
"Dream Symbols In Waking Life" is a book about the relationship between dreams and waking life from the perspective of synchronicity, which is defined as a meaningful co-incidence.
The author uses photography and digital art to express the dream symbols. One of the photographs is of a fine art painting of a nude woman. Nudity is a common dream image. She also gives personal examples relating to the power of the dream.
This is a book beautiful enough to have as a coffee table top display.
Excerpt
During the two years that I have been facilitating dream groups, I have observed several phenomena that have sparked my curiosity. One revolves around the times when the group members share the same symbol in their dreams on the same night.
There are instances when those group dream symbols connect to a waking life event within a short time after the dream. Some dream symbols seem to foreshadow an event that occurs in the future and others seem to amplify the dream symbol for further inquiry.
The collective dream symbols are common and archetypal, but the intriguing point to me is why we as a group dream similar dreams at the same time and why do or how does that specific symbol find its way to get our attention in waking life? What is the explanation of for this happening?
While these dream symbols are not unique, the fact that so many in one group collectively dream them within the same period of time and the fact that the symbols manifest themselves in waking life is unique--the mystery for me. While the collective symbols have their own special meaning for the individual dreamer, it is curious to me how these symbols could have a message for the group as a whole found in there collective or mutual symbolism.
