Where there's a Will there's a Way...an easy to read book on Canadian Estate Planning

Where there's a Will there's a Way
Kevin O'Brien and Associates

My book is designed to educate the reader and get them organized so that an effective estate plan can be drafted and properly executed. It is also a powerful tool for legal firms to use so that a proper Will and Power of Attorneys are appointed. The section on "The duties of an executor" is a valuable tool that should be kept with your Will so that your executor can properly carry out their responsibilities. It's a fact that you can't take it with you, but you certainly don't want to give it to the taxman. The book is designed to identify estate-planning opportunities that will minimize taxes and maximize your heir's entitlement.

To properly develop an Estate Plan:

  • You have to be organized.
  • You have to be current.
  • You have to identify any shortfalls.
  • You have to set priorities.
  • You have to have an understanding of what you have in place today.

ABOUT KEVIN O'BRIEN

Kevin has been married to his beautiful wife Stephanie for 26 years; together they have four bright and accomplished children. Their oldest son just graduated from McMaster and is working as a design engineer on turbine engines for a local company. Their oldest daughter is a journalist and is looking forward to going out to BC to work for the winter. The couple's youngest son is applying to film/computer programming school and has just left the air cadets. Their youngest daughter is in grade 4.
Kevin is an aviation nut (as many people well know) and also likes history. Kevin often combines his two interests with his hobby of reading and collecting material from the Second World War. Kevin often travels for business and pleasure all over Canada and the world; hence he is becoming an avid photographer.

Kevin has been in the industry for 21 years and has several professional designations and awards of merit. Kevin is a CFP and CDFA and has also written a book called "Where There's A Will There's A Way ™" an easy to read Canadian estate planning guide. Kevin can often be found doing presentations on the topic of estate planning, across Canada. You may have seen Kevin speak at the CIFP, the Advocis national schools (Ontario and Atlantic) and Advocis local chapters (Hamilton, St Catharines, Barrie, Kelowna and the IFB as well as numerous dealership conventions and insurance conventions. Kevin’s love for public speaking is apparent in his presentations. His informative yet humorous perspective on the topic, engages all who attend.

A WORD FROM KEVIN
We have three processes that I have developed, the first of which is called the “Life Navigator™”. This is my financial planning process for families that are growing their asset base. People who want to build a solid net worth without excessive risk or volatility.

The second process I developed is my “Retirement Navigator™”. This process is designed for people that have a lump sum of money to invest and are considering retiring. They need conservative capital growth and also need to take a sustainable income from their investments. We have an exclusive process that assures that your current income needs are not market driven and minimize the volatility on your growth assets.

The third process (fee based) is called The “Estate Navigator™”. This process was written about in the insurance journal of Canada and is considered the leading edge in estate planning services. We organize, centralize and assist clients in developing an understandable solution to their estate planning needs.

My motto in life is...
"It doesn’t have to be complicated to be effective"
