Fear, Phobias and Frozen Feet is a great book that deals with patterns of abusive relationships that some of us have in our lives. It also gives a clear understanding of the victim/rescuer game, and how we let our fears take over and rule our lives. Sometimes, we let our fears stop us from ever reaching our true potential.
A large part of the book is based on Cindy's own experiences, and she has also used other people's real life experiences as well. I found that I could identify with many of the scenarios Cindy wrote about, as many of them had happened to me. It was good to see that other people also went through what I went through, and managed to get out of a bad relationship, and even go so far as to write a book about it. The book is filled with many red flags and checklists to help you identify what role you are playing in the victim/rescuer game and whether or not you are in an abusive relationship. Another great aspect about the book, is that it actually gives valuable advice on how to change yourself, your attitude and how to rid yourself of fear. What I especially liked, were the places put in the book for you to write your goals, dreams, affirmations etc. I always lose little pieces of paper, and it was good to be able to write them in the book so I can refer back to them from time to time.
On the whole this book was very easy to read. It didn't use any of the big words that most of us don't understand and all the advice and tips given were sound and not the type that look good in theory but don't work in practice. In the past I have found it difficult to read self-help books as they always got too technical, but this book just cut to the chase and held my attention to the end.
I highly recommend this book, as I took the time to sit down and complete all the charts and it really has helped me to identify my fears and problem areas in my life, change bad patterns, like myself again and move on with my life. I am sure it will have a positive impact on your life as well.
