Beyond Genesis offers an alternative explanation for the origin of man that is unique and different from either side in the familiar Creationism versus Evolution debate. The author believes the truth revealed in this book was not meant to be understood completely until the present age of information and reason. He reveals new insights which uncover a storyline in Genesis that has previously gone unnoticed. He offers timely new explanations for all the other "myths" of Genesis. All hypotheses are based on sound, recent science and the field of genetics, and are supported through references to the original sources. The central theme of the entire book is that the book of Genesis is accurate historically, and that modern man is a product of BOTH the evolutionary processes, AND a unique, separate line of man, the one referred to in Genesis. The book also reveals the ultimate "plan" for man and that it is not finished.

There has been considerable interest lately in the debate between science and religion over creation and the existence of God. In order to gain a larger base of support, many religious groups are changing the wording of their agenda from “Creationism” to “Intelligent Design” because of problems with the stories in the book of Genesis. If we study the history of man as contained in the book of Genesis, and compare it to the archeological evidence, we do find that there are some common grounds. The differences exist mostly because historians refuse to consider the stories contained in the Bible as anything other than myths or exaggerated tales.

This book was written because of a belief that the book of Genesis has a historical basis and is significant in the history of man. However, the author doesn’t fall into the trap of others who go against common beliefs of the scientific community, of completely repudiating data that is reliable and accepted, almost universally, by all scientists. The basic assumption in this work is that both the scientific community and the religious fundamentalists have misinterpreted the data, and the answer lies somewhere in between. The author attempts to show in this book that the stories of Genesis are based on truth and are believable if we make only a few adjustments to the translation and interpretation of the original Hebrew Bible.

Anthropologists and historians universally agree that something extraordinary did happen between 2500 BC and 2000 BC that lifted man out of the Stone Age into civilization. Our systems of government, our written language, our way of building cities are all a result of that one giant leap from ignorance to enlightenment. Was that “technology explosion” somehow related to the one we see today? Is there a connection between the book of Genesis and this event?

The Bible has made that claim for over 3000 years but nobody has really investigated fully this phenomenon or listened to the message of Genesis concerning this event. Is it possible that all the other “myths”, the flood of Noah, the Garden of Eden, etc. are true? Is it possible with the current controversy between Creationism and Evolution, that both groups have an element of the truth?

Excerpt

Given the resources for accessing information and gaining insight into an infinite array of topics in today’s society, it seems a little strange that there should be such a bitter debate over the creation of man in our schools and religious institutions. People of faith have had their traditional views of this subject challenged by the scientific discoveries of the last two centuries. It is unfortunate that, even in the face of irrefutable evidence of such subjects as the age of the Earth, they refuse to consider the possibility that, if indeed the Bible is true and infallible, maybe it is their interpretation of the Bible that is the problem.
The science community has proven to be just as reluctant to consider all the evidence that perhaps man is the exception to their evolution hypothesis, and explore the written explanations in the Bible for many of the 'gaps' in our history.
This book explores how the Bible, specifically the book of Genesis, can be believed and still be compatible with our knowledge of science and history. In it you will find ideas that go against popular beliefs in both the religious and the scientific communities. I will try to show that these ideas are logical and that by accepting them, almost all the mysteries of Genesis become clear. You will also find that most of the confusion about Genesis and its “myths” was caused by the mistranslations of some Hebrew words that had a double meaning.

In Beyond Genesis, author Allen Epling attempts to solve the decades long debate between science and religion, Creationism versus Evolution. Epling proposes that the book of Genesis is historically accurate. The problems lie in the interpretation and translation of ancient text originally written in Hebrew. Epling goes on to suggest that if interpreted correctly, the Book of Genesis would fit with what is considered true in scientific data. Epling draws on his considerable formal education and life long study and research of religion, history, and the work of earlier religious scholars to explain the mysteries of Genesis. He explains how the first two chapters of the book of Genesis describe two different creation events: the first around 12 billion years ago when God creates Heaven and Earth in a burst of light known as the “Big Bang,” with man-like creatures (Neanderthals, etc.) beginning nearly 2 million years ago. The second Creation Event took place around 6 thousand years ago when God created the Garden of Eden, Adam and domesticated animals. Epling uses new discoveries in genetics and science as evidence to back his hypothesis that both scientific theory and religious belief about creation are correct.

Is Allen Epling’s interpretation of Genesis the true version? As of now, we have no way of knowing for certain. His theories are as believable as anything presented by academia, science, or religion. I urge you to pick up a copy of this compelling argument, to keep an open mind, and to make your own decision. I highly recommend Beyond Genesis to anyone open to alternative religious theories and to those who have allowed science to cloud their faith.

Comments from a professional editor:
"To the author:
This is a fascinating insight into a new perspective on the merger between science and the Bible. It is evident that plenty of research has been done to pull the two "traditionally" separate camps of thought together. The respective issues are cohesively joined in a language that the average reader should easily grasp. ...Overall, a fascinating, well thought out, and expressed piece of writing. No doubt it will be a challenging topic for many readers, which is a good thing!"
