Excerpt

Who Now?

It was easier to Let them all believe I was who they thought I was.
In all actuality, I never cared if they knew me at all,
they wouldn't have understood anyway.
So it was better that they believe I was who they thought me to be.
But now.....................
The "who" that I am is clawing her way to the surface of my very existence.
My true essence,
she who is me,
is taking over
and I can no longer hide,
No
I don't choose to hide who I am
nor who I was made to be.
Yeah,
I hear the whispers I see the stares,
but it doesn't seem to matter.
Soon I will have completed forty turns around the sun,
and I realize that all I had to do for happiness was to be who God made me to be.
As the shadows of my past
fade from the pale blue light surrounding me,
as the rubble rolls away from my feet while I walk towards the east,
I see those
who truly see me
as I truly see them,
their spiritual sight knowing me,
no longer thinking,
just knowing
that I am me
as I know me to be.
