Tameka James has always been a confident, outspoken, strong-willed woman with her one weakness being her ex-boyfriend, TJ. That weakness soon becomes the catalyst to a new life of fear, disease, and pain when one of TJ’s enemies rapes her and threatens to kill her if she goes to the police.
Now with a police report on file, an HIV diagnosis in her medical records, and the rapist running free, Tameka fights to maintain normalcy and save her new relationship. As tensions mount and stakes are raised, some lives are threatened while others are taken.
The phrase “too little, too late” becomes a reality instead of a cliché when last minute efforts are made in vain.

With hundreds of new books flooding the market every week selling a gimmick, it is refreshing to find a novel that delivers substance and quality. That is what you will find in Portia Cosby's "Too Little, Too Late". A book that is all-too-real for so many people today, it chronicles a journey that no one would choose to take but so many are forced to tread. Cosby shows both maturity and sophistication in her debut novel, and by the end of the story she tells you know one thing: this is by no means the last time you will be hearing from her.
RAWSISTAZ
TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE by Portia Cosby is exciting and theatrical from start to finish; it is a page-turner and a tear jerker. The James girls, Tameka and Alexis, are uprooted from their home in Ohio to Texas, by parents with morals of an ant. Once Alexis, the younger of the two, is old enough to be left without the law tracking them down, the parents leave the girls alone. Tameka is determined that they both get a good education; have a nice home and life. Then the problems start.
Alexis, ungrateful and resentful, runs with the wrong crowd and takes her education for granted. Flitting from man to man -with whichever one is spending the most money or giving her the most gifts at the time. Tameka, on the other side of the coin, has gotten a good education and has a good job. But she can’t let go of her thuggish, drug-dealing, no-good sometimes, ex-boyfriend T. J. After being raped, and having an attack on her life, Tameka spirals totally out of control and once again she uproots herself to try have a better life.
Cosby did an amazing job dealing with the conflicts in Tameka's life, as well as, the lives of those around her. She pulled no punches when it came to using raw profanity and fighting, nor in discussing being HIV positive. TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE is a must read, and is very, very good for a first time novel. I'm looking forward to next book.
