UNFINISHED
You whispered into the darkness,
And the breeze shifted the mist,
You threw into the limpid water a kiss,
And the ripples returned what was missed:
Smiles, when nothing was said,
Peace, in an empty bed,
Purpose to a life once thought dead,
Hope for a new sunrise ahead.
You laughed at my silliness,
You held my hand through my pain,
You calmed my angriness
You sheltered me from life's rains.
But then I awakened
To a silence still spoken
And I knew again what you took,
When you left with our unfinished book.
