Excerpt
Her torment called to him like a siren’s song, pulling him to her in her need. He felt her despair and heard her cries long before he ever caught sight of her. She stood on the Grand Haven Bridge, gazing at the still, black water beneath her, waiting for the right moment to spread her wings. He slipped up behind her, one with the shadows, watching her struggle with her indecision as he struggled with the hunger that rose within him like a tide. Patiently he stood, waiting, until he felt her tense and then slipped his arms around her and put his lips to her ear.
“Death would be sweeter in my arms,” he whispered, turning her around to face him. As she stared into his sapphire-colored eyes she felt her strength ebb slowly away and her fears fell from her like heavy garments she no longer needed. She made no resistance as he lowered her to the concrete and only a grateful sigh escaped when he put his lips to her neck and gently, but hungrily, sucked her life away.
