For any serious writer, self-publisher, publisher, this is THE guide to creating a professional ebook

Producing any book involves three phases, WRITING, BOOK DESIGN, and PUBLISHING. Often a writer creates the manuscript, then the publisher takes care of the book design and publishing.
Creating an ebook involves the same three stages, but instead of a physical book, you end up with a digital book. Because of the dynamics of creating an ebook, writers can now also become self-publishers. In this book I’m going to show you, as a writer, how to create an ebook using only two widely used software programs.
We’ll also look at the voluntary standards of book publishing and how you, as a PROFESSIONAL SELF-PUBLISHER should apply these standards to ebooks.
Every printed book has an ISBN number. This number is unique and is issued only once for a book. It’s never reassigned. The ISBN number provides certain identifying information about the book, including the country and publisher.
Almost every printed book with a few possible exceptions has an ISBN number. This is a certainty for any book printed by a publisher registered with a country’s ISBN agency. The exception would be a self-publisher unfamiliar with the ISBN concept. As a self-publisher, it’s even more important to create a publishing identity in order to market effectively.
