I guess you could say that I have always been somewhat frugal with money. My mother likes to tell the story of when I was younger and the family would play card games together. My mom, dad, brother, and I would put pennies in the pot and play for them. She remembers how competitive I was to win these pennies so I could put them in my piggy bank.
I knew I wanted to become a teacher after having Mr. Stutzke as my civics teacher in 9th grade. He was an amazing person and educator. I know you might be thinking, “You like money and wanted to be a teacher?” Not a good mix, huh? Well, throughout college I worked various jobs making minimum wage. I lived at home most of this time so I was able to save a little money even though I only made an average of $5.00 an hour. As a college student I remember thinking, “I can’t wait to graduate so I can become a teacher and make a lot of money.” I guess when you make minimum wage, $30,000 a year sounds like a lot.
Although this book was written with teachers in mind, I believe the practices taught can benefit anyone from firefighters and policemen to CEOs and business owners. In this book, I will show you how my wife and I were able to visit ten foreign countries, pay-off a brand new car in two years, and even have one of us stay home for the first year of my daughter’s life --- all on a teacher’s salary! Do I have your attention yet? If so, let’s go and I’ll show you how it can be done.
