How to spot Mr. Wrong a mile away.

Erika Jackson

Using personal experience, humor, and the wisdom of the ages, Erika Jackson teaches women how to identify whether the man she is dating is a good candidate for life-time commitment. This two-sided book takes a hard look at the effects of violence in relationships and the tools women can use to make wise relationship decisions. Side A is written in self-help format for women who prefer direct instruction. Side B is a novel that reaches the mind and touches the heart at the same time.

INTRODUCTION

Overview

There’s a story about a little church in a small town that was in the middle of Sunday service when a commotion broke out in the back. There was a terrible, loud crash, and the doors flew open. An ugly, scaly creature about the size of Shaquille O’Neal materialized and stepped into the room. Smoke and sulfur wafted around his ankles and began to fill the tiny space.

The creature roared, “Ah, ha, ha, ha! I’m the devil. Run for your measly lives!”

Everyone, having been frozen in their track, suddenly erupted into frenzied motion, fleeing the room from every opening available, and some that were not, except a little old man sitting on the back pew. Casually resting his hands on the top of his cane, he sat back in his seat nonplussed.

The devil stormed over to him spitting fire and insults. “Aren’t you afraid of me? I’m the devil, himself,” he shouted.

“Naw, sir,” the old man stated matter-of-factly. “Been married to your sister for about 25 years now.”

The man I was married to may not have been the devil, himself, but I’m sure he was a close relative. The Bible says that the devil is the father of all lies, and the truth is not in him. That’s how I know this man was kin. Women all over the world are making the same kind of mistake I made in choosing a life partner.

In 1999 there were over 11,000 reported cases of domestic violence in Michigan alone. The state also had over 38,000 recorded divorces that year. Women want to love and be loved, so many of them settle for the first man who speaks of his undying love for them.
