Romantic comedy/ drama/ suspense about a divorced woman who forms a support group for women which becomes an activist group (WAR) demanding unfair acts against women/minorities be set right. Evolving from this is a smaller, core group of 3 which becomes a self-proclaimed vigilante group which steps in when WAR cannot accomplish its goals in a passive way. Ricki England, recently divorced from her husband, finds a support group for women in problematic relationships which soon becomes an activist group, Women Aware and Responsive (WAR), demanding any unfair act against women and minorities be set right. Evolving from this group is a smaller, core group of three consisting of Ricki and her two closest friends which becomes a self-proclaimed vigilante group that steps in when WAR cannot accomplish what it has passively set out to do. The book follows the relationship that develops between Ricki and a homicide detective and her ex-husband, with whom she is still in love. The book tracks the escapades of the three-member vigilante group who deal with various situations involving both men and women. Interwomen throughout are humerous predicaments in which Ricki finds herself as she seeks to attain her goal to live to its fullest. Excerpt She was about as nervous as a virgin in a room full of sailors right off the boat. Well, okay, about as excited too. Her hands were sweaty, her stomach was in knots. Her skin felt greasy. She cleared her throat. "Charlie, I don't know if this is such a good idea," she opined, glancing at her companion. Charlie gave a look meant to shrivel. Ricki straightened up, stared right back. Charlie finally signed exasperatedly, then said, "All you got is a case of the jitters, Ricki. Once we get inside, you'll be all right, I reckon."

This story is well-told. The relationship between Ricki and her best friend, Charlie, is well-developed. The style is fast-paced; the dialogues breezy and witty; written in a way that sounds conversational and real. The issues with which the group deals are real and are treated in depth and with understanding. There are many humorous escapades involving the three women which provoke many laughs from the reader. It is an engaging story; a delight to read.

CHASING HORSES follows Ricki's adventures with her group as well as her relationships with men. Along the way, she realizes to whom her heart belongs and what she wants from life. It's sometimes humorous, sometimes suspenseful, and sometimes romantic. It's a book for many readers.

I thoroughly enjoyed Chasing Horses - a page-turner to the end. Ms. French kept me intrigued and entertained with the main character, Ricki, who is bold and brassy and can't seem to keep herself out of trouble. Chasing Horses makes you think about relationships, family and the "what if" in life's journey – all with a happy ending:)

Intriguing & undeniably funny… Having watched my family and some friends enter into sticky divorces or problematic relationships, I’m always intrigued with finding out how other’s coped and handled their unique situation. CHASING HORSES has a way of drawing you into each character and letting you know the truth and consequences behind each of their actions. While this book doesn’t hold back on the reality of the situation, happiness, heartache and for some pain, I believe these characters and ultimately I believe that Love will have the final say… A very interesting and intriguing read.

I got hooked with the excerpt. Chasing Horses looks like it is a must read for the reader who likes earthy, say it like it is page turning material. I want to read more. Two thumbs up!
