Excerpt

Smooth words may hide a wicked heart, just as a pretty glaze
covers a common clay pot. (Proverbs 26: 23)

During a girls’ night out, conversation drifted to the subject
of the new man in my life. We discovered that some of my
friends knew him, and they advised me to be careful, as he
had a reputation as a womaniser. Though their advice initially

a constant sense of insecurity; I feared no man would ever
think I was good enough for him and that I would be unable

friends wrong, I couldn’t deny the evidence that my new
boyfriend was being unfaithful, even though he would not
admit it. I threatened to leave, but he always convinced me
to stay. Confused, I reasoned that he wouldn’t say he loved
me if he didn’t care about me. His behaviour proved his
unfaithfulness, but his charm and persuasion kept me by
his side. The more I listened to him, the harder it became to
determine the right thing to do.

Women who are easily flattered by attention and promises of
love often end up giving their love and trust too soon. If their
lover turns out to be a charmer, they are overwhelmed with
