Books by Bob furlin - The Speakeasy
Frank Justice Rules the Speakeasy is a tale of the melting out of justice his way, avenging the murder of his family, during those times. The Speakeasy is a result of the turbulent times of Prohibition.
Frank Justice Rules: aberrant, eccentric, extraordinary, and fantastic, are just a few of the words to describe him. One never was sure what he would say or do next. He could show great compassion, but in the next second, be brutal and kill. He had great wealth and shared it with those he felt that needed help, or with causes he deemed worthy. He was a lawyer, soldier, martial arts expert, boxer, and wrestler. He seemed driven by an inner force that wanted to mete out justice, but his way, and on his terms. Even with an aura of invincibility, he was vulnerable and tormented emotionally by deep hurts from his past that continually haunted him.
The sleek Duesenberg SJ Speedster came slowly down the dark snow-covered street in midJanuary 1933. It was in no hurry as the powerful 320 horsepower engine was still in low gear even though it could reach speeds of 125 miles per hour. It crawled down the street and finally stopped in front of a darkly lit building. The two occupants sat and talked for fifteen-minutes before the driver got out and opened the door for the passenger and led her to the front door.
The two walked into the dark smoke-filled dive and all eyes turned in their direction. She was a twenty six-year-old tall leggy stunning blonde with curves in all the right places. She was out of place but at ease in the low class Speakeasy and all eyes focused on her. Their eyes then turned to look at her companion, as Frank Justice Rules was an impressive six foot two swarthy well proportioned thirty-year-old Italian. They would call her beautiful and others would say he was ruggedly handsome…….
She hesitated before pushing him any further as she at times never knew her status with him. He seemed to love her but he behaved differently from the normal or accepted way one expected from someone that said they loved them. Aberrant, eccentric, extraordinary, fantastic, were just a few of the words that came to her mind of the man she adored. He excited her more than anyone she ever knew as she never was sure what he would say or do next. He could show great compassion but in the next second be brutal and kill although he never hit or harmed her in any way. He had great wealth and shared it with those he felt needed help or with causes, he deemed worthy. She could see there was a conflict going on within on how to handle those riches. He was a lawyer, soldier, martial arts expert, boxer, wrestler, and business owner. He owned banks, hotels, nightclubs, gymnasiums, farms, islands, and businesses she knew nothing about. He seemed driven by an inner force that wanted to melt out justice but his way and on his terms. She thought that he was a great lover and in his arms, she reached heights of rapture. Even with an unsmilingly aura of invisibility he was vulnerable and tormented emotionally by deep hurts from his past that continually haunted him…….
He watched her glide towards him and his mind flashed back to the first time he saw her luscious body. Her name was Rhea Themis. Rhea, the Mother of Gods, Themis, the Goddess of Justice, and she put him in heavenly places and he called her his Dio. He had heard her voice-over the phone before he saw her and her presence overwhelmed him. He bought the investigation agency she worked for and made her his personal secretary. She fulfilled every duty he ever required of her, she had beauty, brains, loyalty, devotion, integrity, and he fell in love with her immediately. She was the only one who could relieve the pain of losing Patty his first love. Patty’s adopted parents had her murdered and he dealt out justice to them his way. He bought a remote deserted island and imprisoned them there. He choked the life out of her murderer, as he looked him in the eyes. Only his goddess could relieve that burning pain and loneliness.
