Trey Dalton is having a very bad day. Someone is trying to destroy his plantation, his mettlesome aunt has come to visit, and some strange woman has appeared on his doorstep spouting some nonsense about coming from the future. Alexandra Tibideaux's day isn't any better. After racing from California to New Orleans because of an urgent message from her grandmother, Alex learns that all Grams wanted was to tour an old plantation, where Alex finds an exact likeness of herself. When curiosity causes her to touch the portrait, she finds herself trapped in the past with a man who is far too cute and too pig-headed for her taste.

A Portrait in Time
A mysterious letter with an urgent plea from Alex's grandmother sets her world in a spin. Unable to reach her Grams to determine what the emergency was, Alex jumps the next available flight from California and sets off to Louisiana. Yet upon her arrival she finds Grams to be in perfect health, in fact, anxious for Alex's arrival. She wanted to attend the opening of the Dalton Plantation and insisted that Alex go with her. While touring the plantation, Grams shows Alex a painting with a woman who looks exactly like Alex. Alex felt compelled to touch the painting after realizing that it had been altered and a person standing behind the woman in the painting had been removed. And, in a long ago time, Trey, is fighting someone or something to keep his plantation going. Accidents are happening, prices are rising and it appears that someone is out to bring him down. But Trey takes all this in stride and keeps on going. Until, a strange looking woman in her leggings shows up at his house babbling like an insane woman. Trey's Aunt Rose took charge and welcomes the woman into his home, a stranger, and yet Rose felt oddly comfortable with Alex as if she had known her for years. Barbara Donlon Bradley presents her readers with a 5 Star story of timeless love. Her characters come to life as they explore the emotions between the hero and heroine and cross the chasm of different life styles. She expertly weaves subplots into the story, each building upon the other with supporting characters that grow as the stories evolve. And her use of the modern day norm of taw kwon do as a historical phenomenon bring a unique element to the story. I applaud her in her ingenuity! A Portrait in Time is definitely a keeper for me! A Portrait in Time
Alexandra Tibideaux receives an urgent message from her grandmother. Three words only: I need you. Alex leaves California to rush to her grandmother in New Orleans only to find out her Gram wants to look through old photographs and tour an old plantation. Alex obliges her since Gram is her only living relative and she is 93 years old. During the tour, Alex sees a portrait with the likeness of herself. She touches the portrait in fascination only to be transported back in time. Trey Dalton is a very unhappy man. Friends and neighbors ostracize him due to his being in France during the Civil War. Someone is trying to bankrupt the plantation he has spent seven years rebuilding. His loving, but meddlesome matchmaking aunt is visiting. Now, he has a strange woman whom suddenly appears out of the blue wearing strange clothing claiming she is from the future. A Portrait In Time is a very entertaining read. It has all the ingredients I love to see in a time travel romance with some few surprise ingredients. You will experience all emotions reading this book. The twists and turns keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. I would have like to have been able to read more of the letter Trey wrote Alex in the journal. This is the part where a lump formed in my throat and I had to swallow several times to get my emotions under control. My heart was crying out for Trey and Alex. I had a devil of a time ignoring the impulse to jump ahead a few pages to see how they find each other again. It was touch and go there for a bit, however, I prevailed and kept reading. I will definitely look for more work from Barbara Bradley in the future. She has a warm and carefree writing style that touches this reviewer’s heart. She makes the transition to the past believable to the reader. To sum it up, this book is a keeper!!! April Roper Romance News http://www.geocities.com/op_ghost/

A Portrait in Time
Alexandria Tribideaux goes to visit her grandmother in New Orleans, and finds out that she wants Alex to come to a Plantation with her to see a picture. The picture looks just like Alex, and when she gets closer to the picture and touches it, she finds herself transported back in time. She meets a man named Trey, and falls in love with him. He is the man in the picture her grandmother had showed her, a man who loved a woman from their family, who mysteriously disappeared and never seen or heard from again. Alex is that woman. She fell in love with Trey from the first moment she saw him, and when his Aunt told everyone that Alex and Trey were engaged to be married, she found herself going along with the idea. Alex and Trey end up getting married, but there is someone in town who is trying to kill Trey and Alex, and will do anything to see Trey devastated. Alex gets kidnapped, and the kidnapper sends Trey a portrait of Alex, the same portrait that transported her there in the first place. Alex touches the picture, and finds herself back in her own time. She is devastated to be separated from Trey, and she finds a journal that Trey had wrote to her over 125 years ago....she reads how much he loves her and misses her. Is there anyway for Alex to get back to Trey and her life with him on the plantation? Her grandmother has a plan..but will it work again? Very good book! I love books that have time-travel in them, and this book is one of my favs! I read it one day :) Date of review: Feb 2002 Jennifer Romance Book Reviews http://www.romancereview.cjb.net
