Bruny Island Author

This is a book full valuable photographs of past events and situations fast fading into history. It contains epic poems of seafaring and disaster at sea, pirate whaling and loss of life in the process.
It recounts in detail war and misery in the Middle East, Cyprus, Pakistan, India, Kashmir and tells the story of travel through those countries during times of upheaval and coups. It describes the six day war Between the Arabs and Israelis, telling the story of the tension in those years along the Suez Canal and the tribal rebellion in Yemen following the Republicans upheaval and destruction of the countries royalty.
The early years of colonial existence in New Guinea are described in detail and the political unrest within South Africa is vividly described by the author.

Excerpt

Short step slamming Norther swell that runs before the gale,
slams the scending pitching bow that seeks the ocean whale.
North by West the course is set, the compass rose is spun.
North by West, the Middle watch awaits the rising sun.
Cables ropes and loose gear lashed to meet the Northern storm,
lights of the whaling port astern where the whaling men are born.
Fading lights that dance and die drowned in sea swept mist
Lights that die in the whalers' port where right is the whaler's fist.
Shuddering hull that's down by bow heaves to lift her head
Foam and froth that sweeps the decks, thrashing aft is spread.
