Black Leather and Blue Denim, A '50s Novel is adult literature for anyone who likes 1950s' teen culture. BL&BD has been given a 5 Star Rating by ebookpalace.com and by Midwest Review
Black Leather and Blue Denim, A '50s Novel (436 pages) describes an intense ongoing turf/power struggle between two determined '50s suburban Philadelphia' greaser gangs, the Diablos and Kamikazes. The K's are a band of ruthless thugs that take pride in terrorizing eggheads ('50s nerds), jocks and other greasers. The D's are organized to protect its membership from the ruthless, racist redneck Kamikazes. J.W. has "a crush" on Angie Palermo, the attractive daughter of a local Mafia drug and pornography distributor. A series of pranks between the D's and the K's quickly escalate into life-threatening situations. More trouble arises when Quinn, leader of the Diablos, befriends Marcus Spellman, a young black mechanic who works on the engine of Quinn's '42 black Ford coupe. Quinn invites Marcus to join the Diablos, and this event causes internal strife within the Diablos and external conflict with the racist Kamikazes. Black Leather and Blue Denim is an important work because it exposes the '50s as a decade in American history loaded with racism, sexism and male chauvinism. The novel is funny and at times tragic and sad. BL&BD is an adventurous exciting story that is also a nostalgic look back at an age of innocence where the so-called "Happy Days" might have been just as dangerous for teens as young adult life is today.A sequel to Black Leather and Blue Denim has been written by Jay Dubya. The book is titled "The Great Teen Fruit War, A 1960' Novel," and seven chapters (first draft) can be read at authorsden.com under the category Action/Thriller, Short Stories.BL&BD is now available in both Microsoft Reader and Adobe pdf at http://www.cyberread.com/authors/dubya.aspThe Great Teen Fruit War, A 1960' Novel has just been e-published by ebookstand.com (Action/Thriller on company's Category Menu).http://www.ebookstand.com/m/jaydubya8 BL&BD is now available at Mobipocket Store (Adventure) and at Amazon, Borders and Barnes and Noble online stores (type in Jay Dubya). Excerpt
"Hi, I'm J.W. What's your name?"
"Beau," he cautiously replied.
"Bow? Like in tie or arrow-shooter?" I cutely joked.
"No Dorkface!" he nastily yelled in my face. "It's spelled B-E-A-U!"
"Like in Bozo?" I asserted, again trying to be funny.
"Look J.W.," Bo sneered, "If ya' don't give me more respect, I'll have to kick you hard in your third knee!"
"What third knee?" I innocently asked.
"Your high knee, Stupid!" he laughed.

5 Star Rating
Black Leather and Blue Denim, A '50s Novel is a spectacular book that is dedicated "to all those who like or love the 1950s, but especially for all those who had actually lived them." BL&BD is a lengthy novel (in a good way) of 147,000 words and it's delivered in 57 action-packed chapters. BL&BD is filled with danger, teen romance, adventure, peer pressure, and violence between two specific '50s suburban Pennsylvania greaser gangs, the Diablos and the Kamikazes. The novel even has romance and betrayal. I loved this book. As I read BL&BD, I felt myself often taken back to my teenage years when the movie "The Outsiders" was a big event. Jay Dubya has successfully put together a book addressing touchy subjects such as : racism, sex and violence, and has organized a novel where dominant males ruled the 1950s. He's added tons of exciting action and conflict, and the unforgettable characters are interesting and realistic. The dialogue is perfectly blended to the characters' personalities and descriptions. Jay Dubya is a very talented and multi-published author in several different genres. This book is very funny, enjoyable adult literature with adult language and situations. I highly recommend it.
