Would you trade the story of a lifetime for a lifetime of love?

Society reporter Josie Stewart is all too familiar with billionaire Dan Mason, who recently took over the reins of his ailing father's business. He has no intention of allowing anything, even his own conscience, to get in his way.

When Josie accidentally uncovers one of the family secrets, she glimpses a side of Dan that most people never get to see. Drawn to him, she puts her own career and reputation in jeopardy to keep his secrets. But some of those secrets are darker than she knew. Neither Dan nor Josie expects the danger lurking in their future -- or the passion.

“You just won’t let me be civilized, will you?”

“Why would I?” He grinned. “I like you uncivilized much better.”

“Be careful.” She settled cross-legged on the floor across from him. “You’ve never seen how truly uncivilized I can be.”

For an answer, he speared a forkful of the cake and held it out. “Nobody can be truly uncivilized when they’re eating tiramisu.”

Her eyes still on his, she accepted the bite of dessert from the fork he held out. It was luscious and light and tasted deliciously of cocoa and rum. “Mmm. That is good.”

His eyes flicked down to her mouth then back up, his lips parted slightly. She knew he was thinking about kissing her, and she dared him to do it with her eyes, knowing how close to the edge she was pushing them both but with no desire to seek safer ground at the moment.

Taking the other fork from him, she cut off a bite of the cake and held it out to him. He took it, and Josie felt as if she could taste it with him. Her heart beat faster, and she could feel a flush of heat in her skin.
