Excerpt

Chapter 1, Search and Recovery

"What are you looking for, Sam?" inquired her best friend, Ellie, as she sat on the edge of Samantha's bed watching her rummage through her dresser drawers.
"I can't find my white tee shirt. The one with the big pink heart on the front that say, 'I Love J.C.' in bright red letters," replied Samantha.
"I don't remember ever seeing you wearing that one," remarked Ellie.
"I haven't worn it yet, but I want to wear it tonight," stated Samantha.
"Why would you want to wear a shirt that says "I Love J.C.?" asked Ellie.
"I just want to, that's all," snapped Samantha, as she continued tossing clothes out of first one drawer and then the next.
"Well, I don't get it," Ellie mumbled while watching her best friend throw clothes onto the floor.
Samantha was getting even more frustrated as there was still no sign of her tee shirt. Ellie bent down and pulled a shirt out of the growing pile on the floor and held it up for inspection. It was a pale baby-blue color and had a picture of two cute little kittens on the front and under them it said, "Kittie Kuddle."
"What about this one?" Ellie asked, as she held the shirt for Samantha to see. Samantha turned around to look over her shoulder at the shirt Ellie was holding and scrunched up her nose, making a sour looking face.
"You are kidding me, right?" asked Samanatha.

Professional Reviews

Teenager Triumphs
A good story for all young readers teaching the value of making the right decisions and choices in life even should it mean losing best friends or popularity. I bought this for my granddaughter who is twelve and she loved the story. Of course, I read the book, too, which is why I felt compelled to review it. A grandmother who cares, Margo A., Melbourne, Florida
