Aetherworld - An Epic Fantasy
The new age of prosperity is threatened, and the entire Aetherworld is at risk. Shard, a misfit sorcerer, must harness his erratic powers to defeat a hidden foe and rescue the Aetherworld from chaos.
For over a thousand years, the Aetherworld suffered under the ravages of the Great War, a war of blood and black magic that toppled half the kingdoms of the Golden Age. Then the war was brought to an end by a sorcerer armed with a weapon of cataclysmic force - the yugure. The crystal's power destroyed the last of the great kingdoms and plunged the Aetherworld into the Dark Age. Now, four thousand years later, the kingdoms of the Aetherworld have at last arisen and united under Dynast Celaeno, the Empress of Nations. Growing up under this New Age is the Dynast's adopted son Shard: a spellcaster of exceptional by uncontrolled power whose true origins have yet to be discovered.
But beyond the reaches of Celaeno's realm, a conspiracy is brewing. Mercanaries are gathering in the wild Denaren Wastes to uncover a hidden treasury, and behind them stands a spectre of the Dark Age who seeks a deadly artifact more valuable than the plunder of centuries.
Meanwhile, Shard discovers and awakens a fellow sorcerer from a sleep four thousand years old, one bound by death to the ancient warlord who now seeks to recreate the Winter of a Thousand Years. Together they must confront the forces at work in the Denaren Wastes, before the Aetherworld itself is destroyed.
