When her career ambitions get in the way of their relationship, Erin has to decide what matters most to her – getting the job she always wanted, or the man she needs and desires.

Professional Reviews

The Romance Reviews Top Pick
One of the best friends to lovers stories I've ever read!

Dylan Crane has been in love with his neighbor Erin since she moved in two years ago. However, she only saw him as a friend and he had to be contented with that, until one day when she started to see him in a different light. It was a start, but Dylan wasn't satisfied with it. He wanted more, but how could he keep her when they were so different?

Dylan is a geek, but oh, what a geek! His knowledge of things geeky and nerdy is so sexy, I'm kidding you not! I really wish more authors would write this kind of hero. That aside, he's very caring of Erin and he's big on compromise. The clincher is his sticking to his principles, no matter what. Yeah, definitely sexy and a hero to fall in love with.

Erin, on the other hand, is driven to success due to her past. One good thing about her is that when she finally saw something worth keeping, she'd do everything in her power to do so. It's a good thing she came to her senses just in time! I don't feel for her as much as I do for Dylan. There was some note about her sad past that was meant to make her sympathetic, but it didn't make much an impression on me.

Overall, THE GEEK NEXT DOOR is a gem of a book that I read in one sitting. Lauren Fraser is a great storyteller in the way she could draw me in with her writing, and I'm definitely checking out her other books.

Romance Readers Connection
Do you have that little hidden corner of nerd in you? Do you secretly enjoy Start Trek, video games or even The Big Bang Theory? Then this cute little story will bring a smile to your face as you enjoy reading it.

Erin and Dylan have been neighbors and friends for years. Erin is a lawyer trying to climb her way up to the top, the carrot of partner dangling just out of reach. Dylan is a laid back computer programmer. Their friendship has been the cornerstone of their lives for a long time, and neither wants to upset the apple cart. Dylan has been fantasizing about Erin but she just doesn’t see him as more than her geeky friend. As things start to change and Erin’s perceptions are altered, can these two make a relationship work?

This is a short story, but packs a lot into a small space. Well written, the characters are very “real” and fun to follow. I have a soft spot for the geeky side myself, so this story was perfect for a quick pick me up. Enjoy!

Happily Ever After Reviews
I will admit, I have come to expect high quality from Liquid Silver Books, and have not been disappointed. This steamy novella falls into one of my favorite categories, and though it took me a couple days to read, this was more a matter of being distracted by the holidays and work; pulling myself away was no easy task.

I loved Dylan. Really, in a romance, you want to love the hero, and I did. I completely loved him. He was sweet, intelligent, a little uncoordinated, fiercely loyal, and he didn’t compromise who he was. To top it off, he was devilishly sexy and wholly unaware of it. Throw in that he’s in love with his neighbor and good friend, Erin, and he was pretty much my ideal hero.

I didn’t like Erin as much, but that certainly wasn’t a failing. The heroine was a little selfish and career-oriented, and though she objected internally to some of the things her boss asked of her, she went along with it, which was realistic given her character and something with which I could sympathize. She did do her best to “make over” Dylan in terms of appearance; another thing I understood and felt was believable for the character, but indicated she was drawn more by the outside than the inside—at least in a passing way Erin didn’t outright intend. This was addressed, thankfully, and the book’s resolution satisfied any misgivings I might have others had.

Likewise, my own inner geek appreciated a number of references. Unlike Erin, I did know exactly who Deanna Troi is, and that makes me rather proud.

4 1/2 Tea Cups!
