Rejection Artist Spotlight: Richard Kostelanetz..."One of the subsidiary pleasures of doing writing different from the fashionable norms is the recip of rejection slips different from the common run. Whereas some innovative writers prefer to submit only to editors known in advance to be predisposed, I believe in offering my work widely and generously. If only to authenticate my reputation as an avant-garde writer unacceptable to Philistines, I gladly reprint some respnses, happily granting their authors the immortality they justly deserve:
"I don't care if you waste your time, but why don't you stop wasting mine? You are a poseur, not a poet." -- Robert Ward, Billowing Ark.
"You are not a woman. This is by women. Sorry." -- Amber Coverdale Sumrall, Lovers
"Please try to refrain from submitting your work to us until you are able to write complete sentences, though they too will probably be meaningless." -- West Branch
"I know this is bold of me to say so, but quite frankly I don't consider your submission to be poetry in any sense of the term, as I understand it." -- Darby Penny, The Snail's Pace Review
"You apparently never read my letters. But, anyway, PLEASE STOP." -- Josepth Parisi, Poetry
"You must drink lots of strong coffee in order to stay awake long enough to arrange these things that literate kids abandon when they stop playing with asphalt blocks." -- San Miguel Writer

The Rejected Quarterly is an interesting concept magazine. The concept is simple. If your story has been rejected 5 or more times send it to the editor for consideration., If it wasn't rejected for real flaws-- lack of plot, poor dialog, opr other critical structural errors-- then he might be able to use it. A nice concept. But does it work?
I'd say ys, it does.
TRQ is a neatly laid out small press publication. A wonderful lark into the often confusing, bemusing world of the writer and the realm of rejection. TRQ features articles of interest to writers and a Rating of Rejections that was very informative for me, a fellow writer. But don't mistake me here, the fiction was well worth the cover price. The stories were at the very least good. In fact, I can't for the life of me understand why some of them weren't snatched up sooner. Lack of taste, I suppose.
Overall I found TRQ to be entertaining, well worth the price of a look
