Understanding ownership realities
Studying horses first
Becoming a horse owner is a serious decision. Unlike skiing or golf or tennis, horseback riding is a hobby that involves a living, breathing creature. When you don't feel like playing golf or aren't in the mood to ski, you can just toss your equipment into the garage and forget about it until the urge strikes again. But owning a horse is a whole different ballgame.
When you own a horse, you're taking responsibility for another living being. You have to feed, groom, and even ride the horse on days when you just don't feel like it. A horse can't sit in a corner while you decide to do something that more suits your mood. Horses need regular care, attention, and TLC.

|Sounds like a terrific and useful book. However, is it a good idea to place a massive, heavy animal in the hands of a dummy? (Only joshing.)|
