Can a love that transcends time overcome all obstacles?
He approached her with caution,
as if not wanting to frighten her further.
Then, in a gentle but quiet voice said, “Shaelynn, are
you all right? Did he hurt you?”
The questions filled her mind with all the horror
of Perry’s attack. Once again, she could feel his vile
hands on her body. The mere image of that man’s
face, his breath, his intentions, sickened her. If not
for Tristan, he would surely have—
The thought evaporated as the captain fused his
gaze to hers. He winced visibly and stiffened. The
moment Tristan believed his presence produced her
outward show of loathing, he disappeared.
“No! Tristan, please, wait!” she called in a futile
attempt to prevent his departure. Turning quickly
toward the door, she grasped the handle. The knob
did not budge. She frantically yanked the keys out of
her pocket and searched for the one that would
unlock the door. Her wet hands shook with the
effort, and it took forever to find the right key. When
at last she found it, she thrust it into the lock and
turned the handle. The door swung open, and she
slammed it behind her as she bounded up the stairs.
“Tristan,” she panted, as she reached the top
floor. “Please, you misunderstood!”
She fell against his door in her hurried attempt
to reach it. Then, after grasping the knob, she
turned it, knowing it wouldn’t open, even before she
made the attempt.
“You’ve got to let me in, you have to let me
explain, please,” she begged through the barrier that
separated them. “I swear on everything dear to me,
I’m not moving from this spot until you do. Do you
hear me? I’m not leaving!”

Can a love that transcends time overcome all obstacles?
Shae Montgomery has been plagued with a reoccurring nightmare now for a couple of weeks. It's leaving her exhausted and confused due to the fact that she feels as though it contains an underlying meaning that she just can't seem to figure out. At first she thought it was due to the stress of her job, schooling or even the breakup between her and her ex-fiance', but now, she's not so sure. Shae tries to leave her nightmare behind her though as she takes on the task of translating old military war documents written by the Wisconsin Fiftieth Regiment during the Civil War. The location of her new assignment is at the Starling Plantation in Tennessee; clearly a long way from her home in Norway. It's fascinating work for Shae though, and she is excited to start over and use this time to clear her mind. Unfortunately, the ghosts haunting The Starling Plantation are not as easily excited about her extended stay. They believe she is unwelcome, and an invader, therefore they do everything in their power to try and scare her away. Civil War Captain Tristan is the one who tries the hardest to spook her, but he has little success due to the fact that Shae has had experiences with ghosts before, and the last thing they can do is truly scare her.
Captain Tristan Jordahl's ghost has been residing at the Starling Plantation now since he was murdered during the Civil War. He kept a hard edged attitude, never letting anyone have the opportunity to stay and explore the plantation long. Shae is no exception to his rule, and he is bound and determined to make her leave. There is something familiar about this woman, not to mention the fact that she is also agonizingly beautiful. She knows how to get to Tristan more than anyone else in his past. Because of these new found feelings she inspires, Tristan is more determined than ever to rid her of his residence. For some reason that he can't explain, he decides that this woman absolutely cannot find out about the true reasoning and happenings behind his death. He's ashamed and scared of what she would think about his rumored traitorous actions, and the last thing he wants is to have her think of him in any other way besides a true and honest gentleman.
Despite each of their reservations and personal turmoil, they develop a budding friendship. Tristan shares his deepest secrets and Shae is determined to clear his name name once and for all. The pair constantly fight off their growing emotions for one another, and evil presences are determined as well to create havoc on their relationship. With Shae's nightmares finally making sense, and the pairs hearts finally taking the sacrificial plunge, this couple discovers a love that truly transcends time.
Tristan and Shae share a love that only ever seems to exist in a fairy tale. They both have wonderful characteristics that contribute to their beautiful relationship. Tristan is a man of honor. He believes in doing whats right for others around him, especially when it concerns Shae. His love for her is so sweetly written, I found myself sighing whenever he spoke to her. He was truly a magical person filled with bravery, passion, and most importantly, honesty. Nobility is a rare quality to have, and he absolutely exuded that as well.. Shae was just as wonderful Tristan. She was sweet, passionate, intelligent, and most importantly, loving. She made me proud throughout Spirit of the Rebellion, and I only wish more characters were written with such an honest flare to them.
Spirit of the Rebellion was a very impressive book. It had so much detail written into it, and I honestly felt a little more knowledgeable after reading it. Spirit of the Rebellion contained just the right amount of historical aspects, to it, and I felt that the longer length of the story was very well worth it. I enjoyed Spirit of the Rebellion, and would very highly recommend it to someone who enjoys a very intelligent book revolving around the aspect of historical romance. You won't regret reading it, I can guarantee it!

Spirit of the Rebellion
Spirit of The Rebellion is a ghost story, mystery and love story wrapped up in one convenient package that in the beginning I was wondering how the author would be able to pull it off. Don't get me wrong, it was a great book, but I have read a ghost story that is a love story and I just couldn't wrap my head around the idea so it took away from the book.
Thankfully it was not the case this time. It starts off with Shae coming to a new house, fully aware that the tenants, may have left their bodies' but they are still among the living, just as ghost's, 6 of them in fact occupy the Starling house plantation and they don't like new room mates with a pulse.
During her stay Shae is translating documents from Norwegian to English and vice versa for her work and comes across a Civil War mystery involving treason.
As she charms the life back into the place and each of the ghost's fall in love with her personality, some more then other's, join her in a trip back in time to clear an innocent man's name.
The ending was absolutely amazing, I had hoped for one way and got an even better one
Spirit of the Rebellion
"Why would her words bother him? More importantly, why did it bother her that it bothered him?"
Ready for a change, Shae Lynn accepts a position translating Civil War documents for an upcoming museum exhibit. Of course, the assignment requires she move into an old plantation home - a haunted plantation home. But the idea of ghosts doesn't bother Shae Lynn. She's dealt with one before and shouldn't have a problem here. Though she has never encountered someone who wants her gone as badly as the Captain does. Tristan just wants some privacy in the afterlife. He doesn't need a beautiful young woman moving in and he certainly doesn't want her reading and translating those documents. Why won't she just get the point? Instead of running away, she seems to be delving deeper into the past, trying to find out who he is and what really happened when he died. Is the truth waiting to be found, or will his disgrace live on forever?.
My Opinion: This was a simply fabulous read and one that really was a delightful surprise. Obviously done with a lot of research, you didn't feel bogged down by the facts, but rather swept into the echoes of the past. Additionally, the inclusion of a bit of mythical lore makes for an unique twist. Both the main characters and side characters are introduced carefully, making for realistically developed relationships. The romance is heart-wrenching and wonderful and simply toe-curling. It really pulls you in. This one will definitely keep you reading and reading to find out what will happen next. I was almost disappointed that it was over since it was such a delight to read. I would highly recommend this one.
