Slade and Reeve have always been friends, neither realizing just how much one wanted the other. Neither realized the changes that would occur when a chance encounter moves them from friend to lovers.

When Devotion started out, it was a little confusing, as the author threw so much background story up front that I was unsure just who the story was about. Once the confusion cleared and Slade and Reeve take over, the story flows more smoothly. The connection is easy to see between the two and they waste no time burning up the pages. I would like to say that this is an easy-going romance; however, Devotion is full of angst. When the men have to separate, Slade’s life changes drastically. Slade’s behavior as he deals with these changes, especially after Reeve returns, comes across believably. Reeve’s behavior and need for revenge when he realizes what has happened rings true, as well. When the men are separated once more, I almost wanted to cry.

Devotion is a story that covers a large period of time and has a large group of secondary characters. As a futuristic, Devotion has a lot going for it, as the action will keep the reader glued to the pages. The secondary characters also help move the story along, with several of them playing key roles in the story line.

As Devotion drew to a close, I was shocked by the ending but am glad to see that the author already has a follow up coming out soon and am waiting to see what will happen next.

Slade Igerman and Reeve Taylor have finally connected and are in a steady relationship. Something happens after Reeve goes away on a mission and Slade does not want to talk. Either the two of them will be able to work things out or their relationship may be over. But what if the secret is more than either of them can handle?

Devotion is, for me, a study in contrasts. One contrast being the men's choice in weapons - Slade with the sword and Reeve with his sniper rifle. Another contrast is their differences in personalities with Reeve being the more outgoing of the two and Slade being a bit "chilly".

The contrast that I think really defines not only the men, but why these opposites work so well together, is the contrast between their outward personalities and who they are inside. Even though Reeve is outgoing and can come across as a partier, he wants a loving home and partner. Slade, on the other hand, may come across as cold and hard, but it's partly because he wants the same thing, just doesn't trust in the fact that he may actually have it.

All of these contrasts are entwined together and blend well to pull the whole story together.

Great read and look forward to more!
