Ruby is the only child with a natural imagination in a future spaceship run by superstitious genetic engineers.  Urged by the legendary maverick, Orenda, the 100-year-old woman, Ruby escapes and is cast into an outrageous quest as she endeavors to restore the lives of her parents on the sweetly scary planet Saardu.

_______

For those of you who love Saardu and want to see movies, the important thing for you to do is keep the conversation alive online and in your real life. Here are a few key facts to remember when you tell people about it:

1) Who wrote it?
Carma Chan, easy to remember URL, amazon.com/author/carmachan
2) What's Saardu?
Saardu is a sweetly scary planet invented by four children of the 11th Dimension, including the real Tom Sawyer.
3) Where can I find it?
Easy. Google Saardu.
4) Why isn't it in print?
Carma loves trees and ereaders. Anyone can read Kindle books on any PC with free apps. And Kindle owners have an advantage because they can borrow books for free anytime from the worldwide Kindle Owner's Lending Library (#KOLL). Plus, the cool thing is -- Amazon pays indie authors royalties when you borrow our books!!
5) How come I've never heard of it before?
Because Carma is a freelance writer who doesn't have an advertising budget and instead of spending time in book forums, she's working on the next book in The Saardu Series!

Excerpt

Trish enlarged the image of Ruby's brain and gasped.

"How serious is it?" Admin 867F2 asked. (We'll call her F2, so you don't have read all those numbers repeatedly, and you won't have to remember too many names.) F2 rose from her station and joined Trish at the conference table. She frowned at what she saw.

The other eight Admins left their stations and gathered around the conference table.

Trish pointed at Ruby's frontal lobe. It was undivided! She enlarged a gene strand on Ruby's DNA map, and then activated the same gene strand on her parents' maps.

"This family is a nightmare," she lamented.

At that moment, the door dissolved and two Medics escorted Ruby into the Alcove. Ruby glimpsed the medical records before Trish deactivated the touchscreen.

Ruby looked at Trish with suspicion. She felt hot.

Professional Reviews

A very highly recommended read for young science fiction fans
Dreaming is a waste of time, and in a hyper-efficient future, this is a horrible offense. "Saardu: The Adventure Begins" is the unique tale of Ruby, an imagination-driven child whose parents met there end for valuing such a thing. In a quest to save the last dragonfly, she will go across the universe to a unique world she never knew before. "Saardu" is a top pick and very highly recommended read for young science fiction fans.
--Midwest Book Review

Great balance between Tolkien and Douglas Adams
Saardu is warm and endearing--it's Star Wars meets Narnia! Carma strikes a great balance between Tolkien and Douglas Adams.

Creator, Captain Zap Comics, Reality Stripped, and SciFi MumboJumbo

A must for every child's holiday gift basket!
A truly futuristic sci-fi/fantasy tale, Saardu was written by an adult geek, for young geeks. This is not an intellectually easy read. Children will be exposed to advanced theories about space, time, and energy, blended with elements of magical fantasy. The unimaginative will not be able to grasp this work. It's for dreamers. Ruby is a little girl on an adventure that is both healing, challenging and inspirational. I'm not going to give it away, but I will say, to all of those who grew up with childrens' book series, like Narnia, or Nancy Drew, or Trixie Beldon, or the Three Investigators, or Harry Potter, this is another spell-binding journey in the making. This is book one. Kudos to the author, and may she bring many more tales in the saga of Ruby and Saardu into fruition!
--Trystan Skeigh, Political Activist
