Magi Adventure

Quest for Light, Adventure of the Magi is a historically accurate account of the Magi’s spiritual struggle and harrowing adventure across Persia in search of the one, true God.  Through nature, God called upon these warrior priests to be among the first to learn of the Messiah’s birth. Our journey will take us along The Silk Road; the first century’s information super-highway. We will meet the people and learn of the events and issues that influenced the Magi. We will share in their struggle with nature, foes, and spiritual conflict on their journey to Jerusalem. By coming to know the Magi and witnessing God’s intervention into their lives will, we will come to understand why they deserted their families and risked their lives on a long journey in search of a foreign king.

Excerpt

The minutes turn into hours as the men lay covered listening to the wind-blown sand hit the carts, their camels, and themselves. Darkened from the sand, the sky loses its light, making the storm even more terrifying. As the hours pass, the men feel the sand piling up around them, and every few minutes one of the men breaks the arm link briefly to stretch, trying to bring relief to a cramp or shake feeling into a numb arm or leg. ‘It must be evening now. Perhaps the night will weaken the storm,’ Melchior thinks to himself.
It is a terrifying night as the men hide from the storm in complete darkness, half buried in sand. The storm produces deafening blasts of thunder and bolts of lightning, adding to the terror. Balthasar lies under his cart with Nekdel and Rushad under his arms. Every so often, Balthasar bumps the boys on the head with his elbow and waits for a bump back, reassuring Balthasar that the boys are still breathing.

Professional Reviews

Midwest Book Review
The Three Wise Men have their own place in the story of Christianity. "Quest for Light, Adventure of the Magi" tells a story of the three as they travel along the Silk Road in the first century and the paths that bring them towards the birth of the Messiah, The Christ. Their trip however, is not without its challenges, and Byron Anderson brings a thoughtful and solidly recommended read that shouldn't be put down easily. "Quest for Light, Adventure of the Magi" is highly recommended.

Independent Book Reviewers, Melissa Brown Levine
"Quest for Light: Adventure of the Magi is a spiritual history lesson laced with biblical teachings and good natured humor. The mix of history, religion, and storytelling makes for an enlightening and inspiring story."

AllBooks Review, J. Blackmore
"Byron Anderson tells this story with a lyrical, almost stream-of-consciousness style, which is perfectly appropriate for a journey that has become a legend. This is a great read for anyone who would like to read about the Magi, and learn more about the larger world that Jesus inhabited."
